    I've got to say, the Goodes hate on here is fucking ridiculous.

    This (unlike supercoach in lots of ways) seems an predominantly objective system.

    Every time something which praises Goodes comes out, everyone says 'nup glitch'

    Not everyone's wrong. He's been in one of the most successful squads of the modern era, his success assists theirs big time.

    Goodes might only score 35-40 goals up forward, but he directly sets up more than anyone bar Cyril IMO. Gives away so many cheap goals for himself to others. Apart from behinds, he rarely has an ineffective disposal, all of which are in the forward 50. He's crucial. Defensive work is incredible too.

    Yeah, he mightn't look like the 15th best player in the game now but I do reckon he was top 3 in the AFL for about 6-7 years running.

    How can you justify calling Darren Glass the 57th best defender in the AFL. No one that knows anything about football would agree with that, backing up something false with stats doesn't change a wrong conclusion.

    At the moment Glass if low because he doesn't win too much of the footy. He suffers in the same way that a tagger does. From 2012 onwards we've been recording one-on-one contests and Darren Glass is one of the best in the comp in this area. Once we've got two years worth of data (by the end of this season) we'll look at incorporating that into the formula and hopefully that helps him out.

    Hopefully they can use these stats for Supercoach too. It's the reason I don't like Supercoach all that much, it tests your Supercoach knowledge, not AFL knowledge.

    Yeah I'd love spoils or beating your opponent to count toward scores. Pretty much nowdays there's no point in picking any key defenders.

    So essentially, these assess only what one does with ball in hand.

    If I take a contested grab, the kicker gets the points :/

    or is it that if he kicks to a contested situation, he gains no equity as his action is same whether i take a mark or not so why should he benefit from it, in fact I would gain the equity that he would have gained had it been a kick to an uncontested teammate?

    ^that's how it should be. Hope I've misread and it is

    I remember reading somewhere that to get points by kicking to a 50/50 the ball has to travel over 40 metres.
