From your past, that'd improve your starting XI.

For Liverpool, Hansan, Kenny and Barnes.

Would love to have a prime Souness and Gerrard CM. But Hansen was a quality CB, and an area we need strengthening, Knny is obvious and Barnes is the best winger weve had (our current weaklink)

In my life time, so a past prime Barnes

A prime Fowler, McManaman and Hyypia. Xabi can count himself very unlucky not to have made it.

Fowler is still the best natural goalscorer I've seen. Mcmanaman is easily the best winger and everyone knows how much of a quality CB Sami was.

  2. Arheiner SIA Yates

    Lescott, Fletcher, Jarvis.

Took 5 seconds to think through. Assuming current players, would have a really different one otherwise.

    Spurs - Hoddle - Ginola - Sheringham.

  4. PienaarColada DH Mulray

We need a goalkeeper, so Neville Southall is obvious. World class goalkeeper.
Even though the centre of our defence is poor lately I'm not going to pick one (Brian Labone). Instead I'll go with Alan Ball and one of the greatest goalscorers Dixie Dean.

In my lifetime? Southall, Kanchelskis, Rooney.

    Greaves, Blanchflower, Gilzean

Greaves mainly because Spurs need an out-and-out striker at the moment. Blanchflower and Gilzean are no-brainers. Though I guess Ossie Ardiles deserves a shout, and of course, Gary Mabbutt.

Colchester: Kinsella, Adcock and David Gregory

I know we are a couple of the older fellas on here heef but I never seen those lads play :p

Loved Mabbutt and Ardiles back in the day, also Falco and Archibald from that era. Little bit of Chris Waddle also.

Well. It is true that I've never seen any of those guys play live or even close to live. However, my dad has religiously informed my since I was a nipper that Alan Gilzean was the greatest footballer to ever play for Spurs, closely followed by Danny Blanchflower. He's not so positive about Jimmy Greaves, but you can't doubt his goalscoring record.

Falco was goal-machine. I'd entirely forgotten about him. And Steve Archibald heading to Barca.

Yeah, and that's my era of Spurs-watching tbh. Steve Perryman, Paul Allen, Garth Crooks, Ray Clemence (and later Erik the Viking). Also, Gazza should probably warrant a mention, thinking about it. Gary Mabbutt will always be my favourite though - he was such a gent and a good player as well.

Mine also, first game of football I ever watched was Spurs v QPR FA Cup final 82. 1-1 both goals in extra time then 1-0 to Spurs in the replay, I was hooked and a tragic ever since. Chris Houghton played in that final also and every player from both sides from Britan or Ireland, how times have changed.

    From players I've watched:

    Sami Hyypia
    Jamie Carragher
    Steve McManaman

Almunus of Hull uni, ftr. Often features in the "famous ex-studes" bit in the quarterly rag they send me.

& Steve Archibald has one of my fav ever chants aimed at him. Those of us of a certain age might remember the British Airways advert with the "We'll take more care of you; fly the flag, fly the flag" jingle?

    To that tune:

    "He's just a Scottish jew; Arch-i-bald, Arch-i-bald"

Anyway, moving on, to address the Arse's most pressing needs currently:

    Dave Seaman
    Tony Adams
    Thierry Henry

Unfortunately couldn't consider Pat Jennings or David O'Leary for their post-Arsenal activities.

Hard to do for Utd at the moment, as really its only the midfield that is suffering

All time its fair to say Edwards, Best and Charlton would improve every team. From my lifetime its a no brainer to say a Keane/Scholes midfield is perfection, as for the 3rd I'd love to see a inury free Lee Sharpe.... I know its tempted to replace Giggs with Giggs, but Sharpe too was special, but his star waned a bit with illness and injury, just as Giggs rose. He still had some brilliant moments for us in the Premier League, but never quite reached his 90-92 phase again.

I'm not going to bother with players before the Premier League era. Too difficult to compare.

I'd take back Ronaldo in a heartbeat so he goes in there.

What we really lack now is a meathead in midfield so Keane. He was a cunt but such a huge presence in midfield.

Last place is a tossup. I think the 2 positions we need to improve on now are LB and with Vidic and Rio both struggling with fitness a CB.

I think just simply because Evra's had a much better season this than last I'm going to pick Jaap Stam as a CB.

    So
    Ronaldo, Keane, Stam
