    Sean Rudder for five-eighth.

I would think so. pretty certain Daley rates carney as a footy player. I'm still of the opinion that carney may offer more with another creative five-eighth though.

Carney is overrated. Rather have Reynolds.

  4. Toolman TR Man

Guarantee the option besides Carney he's thinking about is Maloney.

josh Reynolds is an absolute myth.

    fmd.

Well, I have to give Daley credit for that. I mean I don't think Pearce should be locked in; I wouldn't pick him but if it's between he and Reynolds, then yeah good to see he's resolved about his choice. Still think he'll abandon it if NSW lose Game 1. It's obviously vital. NSW can't win if they don't triumph in the first match, which is the main objection I have to the reversal of the game assignments. Sadly for Reynolds I think he's on a hiding to nothing if it turns out that way. If Pearce is dropped and Reynolds is tasked with playing one game down going to Lang Park, his one-dimensional game will be badly found out. Then again, I think he'll be found out no matter when he plays.

I like him as a player but mainly as a hooker tbh; he could play in the halves in certain structures but he's never going to be a serious option for NSW there. A bit like Gidley actually but not quite as good.

Had a laugh at Matt Johns making a big list of five-eighths on several occasions and deliberately leaving out Mullen every time. There are a few players he takes a pretty obvious set against and takes any opportunity to talk them down, and Mullen is one of them. Probably rooted his ex or something.

    Agreed.

agree with cribb though, he'd be a gun impact hooker. that's it but. fucking lost in attack in the halves.

Always hated cunts saying bonding session, should just call it a piss up and be done with it.

    Is that complacency I smell??

Last year was probably NSW's best chance. Can't see them winning this year.

Funny thing is, if QLD lose Game 1, I actually would be more confident of winning Game 2. I mean if we win Game 1 I'd be super confident of winning at home anyway, but there's no way NSW will win Game 2 if they're 1 up IMO. This is obviously based on general presumptions of what NSW and QLD will be like this year. I think, in other words, it's fair to assume that on paper QLD will have a superior side.

NSW haven't won a "live" match in Brisbane for 7 years. In fact, of "live" matches in Brisbane of which there have been 15 since the year 2000, NSW have won 3. That's 20% even including the Johns/Fittler era. And of course, the Blues haven't won back to back games since 2005. I mean that is just incredible. Then again, between 1996 and 2006 QLD didn't either (though we were plainly robbed in 2002:p)

  15. Magic AJ Parker

Yeh, this. Daley always used to talk him up come origin time. He'd always pick him for Country too.

  16. Alec AD Funkotron

Ah, so that's why they didn't win any series either.

  17. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

I sort of get that feeling but it's obviously just wishful thinking. I mean it's nice to sit here and scoff at Daley and maintain the idea that NSW would go so close only to be bested this year in the manner that Bellamy's sides were, but I reckon there are good reasons to think otherwise. Daley has two jobs which if executed, NSW's home ground advantage should see them win. The two being to motivate his troops as well as Stuart did, and secondly to not make lolworthy selections.

He's already going to make one and that's Hayne on the wing. If he makes others like picking Bird at lock or stacking the bench with backrowers again, or not picking Carney, their chances will plummet.

You don't have to win back to back games to win a series, smartAlec.

  19. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yeah, but don't you have to win a series to win back to back games?? Therefore not winning back to back games since we last won a series is.. obvious.

Unless winning Game 3 and then winning Game 1 counts.

  20. Alec AD Funkotron

NSW did do that though, 2007/8.
