Didn't see the whole Sydney/NM game either, who do you think would have polled?

 

McVeigh way above Swallow IMO

 

Statistically swallow was good but he really didn't have a massive effect on the game.

 

Would even consider 3 Hannebury, 2 McVeigh, 1 Kennedy. Thoughts? Umpire's eyes ofc...

If a midfielder's stat sheet reads x possessions 0 goals and the next guy has the same position and 1 goal, it's no difference in perception, really. same for x possessions 1 goal to same possessions 2 goals.

but all of a sudden when a midfielder kicks 3 goals it's like they're automatically BoG and it's such a jump from 2.

It's a bonus, but it's not the be all & end all. 2 goals is still pretty fucking good.

Fyfe and Walker won't get the 3 in a losing side IMO, no way. Walker was amazing first term and then was much less influential - Taylor Hunt with the three goals and holding Murphy back will get the 3 IMO.

Blasphemy on Cotchin, he was everywhere and there were a few moments of absolute genius - not on the same level as Martin who was an unstoppable force (watch him get hard tagged next week now) but will poll 1 vote because of the infectious media hype around him.

Wingard for the 1 vote with his match-winning Q4 in my books.

 

I'd like to see the statistics for losing sides & 3 votes. Reckon it happens ~twice per round.

Watched the whole game, watched Cotchin so sfa in the first quarter then watched him hang behind packs for quick handball, handball it off, receive the handball running past, kick it 20 metres, receive the handball and then kick it again 20 metres. it's good running but it's 3 stats for a 40 metre gain. happened about 5 times. Reckon his uncontested possession count was so much higher than normal, plus his kicking distance on average would have been well shorter.

 

It's a midfielders award but if a chf kicks 4+ goals with 10 marks and 18 touches it's rare they don't poll. If franklin consistently did that he'd be in with a shot.
