Honestly, how was it be possible for her to run away and jump off of buildings and bridges etc. after being stabbed in the gut a bunch of times, let alone fight and kill that chick after all of that happening? Didn't bleed out or get an infection from her wounds or anything. So incredibly stupid.

Well lady crane seemingly stitched up and dressed her wounds, and running did hurt her, but yeah, it was daft.

Yes it's very hard to believe in a world with dragons and people being resurrected.

Fair enough, but it's not like Arya had any form of magical or supernatural aid which would have helped her in this situation.

Jon Snow didn't survive being stabbed a bunch of times without the help of the Red Woman reviving him. Robert Baratheon didn't even survive being wounded by a boar. Surely Arya would have succumbed to her wounds as well.

I actually like the episode tbh. Shit is moving on, which is always good.

There's a difference between the magical and paranormal and realism though.

Viewers are set up and trained to understand that the world that GoT resides in has a magical aspect that differs from our perception of realism and our own world. We understand that. The viewer sees the GoT universe as one with many similarities to their own - but a few key differences - such as the mythical relevance of dragons and magic. When magic is presented to us, we accept it.

What we don't accept is when the aforementioned similarities between that world and ours are stretched. Mortality is one element where we are trained to relate to it. Death is death, bar the intervention of magic. In six seasons we rarely see death treated differently to how we'd expect - a wound to the head kills, like it would in our world. Based on experience, we perceive the GoT world's concept of natural death to be identical to ours.

Which is why the Arya scene is so awkward and sloppy. There's nothing mythical involved. There's nothing magical involved. She, a small and young female, receives multiple stab wounds to the abdomen. Who even survives one deep stab to the abdomen? It usually causes irreparable damage to the intestines/stomach. Yet Arya survives multiple piercings - and not only that, but a fall into open water. With the extent of her wounds and the state of that water, it's infection and probably sepsis? waiting to happen. On top of that, she seems to go ages without any sort of assistance or medical intervention. With multiple wounds to the abdomen and her size, blood loss would claim her rapidly.

On top of that, we're expected to believe that an untrained lay woman is able to patch her up? It's just too much of a stretch. No magical explanation was offered; if it was - we would buy it, because we're conditioned to understand the role of magic in this universe. But it's not; it's presented to us in a realist sense. To play into the parallels we draw between that world and ours.

Normally I run with what the show gives me and embrace and enjoy it. But that was the first time I've truly been frustrated with it - so there's my rant.

    Pretty spot on

Well to be fair im pretty sure she was wearing a pretty hefty suit of plot armour in that scene

Go one further, an untrained lay woman who no-one, not least Ayra, had a clue had any ability to even stitch a dress, let alone a stomach.

As for her reasoning 'Well I used to stab my boyfriends pretty regularly, good job I managed to figure out complex medical procedures first time round, and didn't have a few murder charges hanging over me'

Wait why would that mean anything? Arya went to Lady Crane because she liked her and because she had saved her life, it was the only possible friendly face in Braavos. She didn't know Lady Crane had a fundamental knowledge of healing, she got lucky as established by Crane's short dialogue about knowing how to dress wounds.

It's still daft that the seemingly severe stabs to the stomach didn't appear to actually puncture the stomach or anything requiring surgery. We may also only have to take at face value Lady Crane's explanation of why she knows how to treat wounds, she is an actress that admits to pretty much running away with the circus. She might have been a nun in Westeros for all we know. I don't have an issue with how Lady Crane's healing abilities were portrayed, more with just how severe the Waif's attack seemed. It was multiple deep punctures FFS

I think it would have been better if Arya had been murdered and then she turned into Jagen H'ghar as her third promised death.

Bahahaha you are a fucking tool. How's that any different to some religious pleb who has everyone building a sept being able to keep Clegane alive when he had a compound fracture and got towelled up by Brienne and left to dead with no-one within miles of him?

Those pesky murder charges though, lets hit those writers up about those ones shall we. There's a lot of violence against women in Westeros and the Free Cities.

In essence its not I suppose. As skippos said, think about it and its rather a bit too much of a leap of faith for the viewer. Though with Clegane you can at least imagine he spent a fair bit of time resting up and regaining his energy. Ayra was up and running the Bravos marathon the next day.
