If Speirs wasn't in the team, nsw wouldn't have a dependable bowling option in the top 7 and you'd be a shot to come in. Probably more likely to be Flack though I suppose.
It'd be criminal to not put you in the squad at least. Maybe Man and Bullpits record, dpoing it longer will edge them in the starting lineup though.
You still wouldn't make my side. Until Choco or Bullpitt deserve to be dropped you shouldn't make it. It would be like dropping McGrath for Lee 10yrs ago.
Until Choco or Bullpitt deserves to be dropped? Farny is gunning it right now and there has only ever been one test series, not saying it should matter at all but really it should have as much weight on selection as some people are giving it.
I agree, for some reason people on here seem to think you shouldn't get dropped from the test team unless you perform badly, they don't take into consideration whether the replacement is actually better or not. It's quite interesting IMO, maybe it's a pom thing? Seems to make sense to put your best players right now in, not your best players over the last 4 seasons.
Yeah. These people will try and say Sullo would therefore still be in it but he is a different story. I would have Farny ahead of Man just now. He is the best 1st change bowler in the game just now IMO and because of that should be in this side.
Yeh but we all seem to think "Play your best players as of this point" whilst lot's of the Aussies say " Play your top performers of the last 3/4 seasons." Admittedly the majority are exactly the same, EG Bullpitt Wilson Gemmell Vago Manero etc etc, but their are some disputed positions and too much weight is being put on performances from ages ago. Also a meant Pom's on this forum, not generally.
English guys on this forum do on the whole pay too much attention to short term bursts of good form. Still, if I was picking the test side, I geniunely don't know if I'd play myself or Choco. If I picked myself, it would probably be my batting that would swing it
The thing is though. Farny's gunned for one season, and in the ALC. The test is next season, with a form reset. At least Choco is a proven performer over a long period.
Yeh short term form is different from 175 wickets at 22 though. That's consistent performing. Plus 31 rep wickets from 4 games at 17 is ****ing awesome. Choco's batting might give him the edge though.
TBH Farny has performed whenever he has been thrown the ball and I believe he would at test level too. The fact of the matter is that if someone performed like this in domestic cricket there would be out cries if they didnt get selected for a test match in real life.
