They played with absolutely no spirit, that was pretty obvious. Never seen such a lack lustre Aussie performance.
Top notch post that. Almost as good as the Kiwi's performance. This was the best of the 3 wins against a full strength Aussie side who can make no excuses.
Pretty sure they've still got to beat England at the end of the year before they're ranked number 1. Australia's pack is just out dated IMO, the kiwis power game is just too much and they've got more skill. To think they can still bring in the likes of Taumalolo it's scary. RTS looks like he'll be the first elite fullback they've had for a long time too after years of picking fringe first graders. Could beon the dawn of a good era for Kiwi rugby league
It was a brilliant attacking display in the first half (26 points) followed by an outstanding defensive effort in the second spell. Standout players for me were Taupau, RTS, Nightingale, SKD, Johnson and of course Big Manu. In summary, this young kiwis side were too big, too strong, too powerful and too skilful. Meaning the Aussies were too old, weak and useless.
Wondering whether Taupau will be reprimanded for that throat-slitting gesture to Thaiday. Hope not. Thaiday had him in a choker hold.
no spirit is the right spirit for this game. just a waste of a week. CvC is a much better spectacle but even that should be scrapped.
Olsen Filipaina, Clayton Friend and Mark Graham were personal favourites from my formative league watching years.
