What did people think of the Luke tackle? Wasn't even a penalty in my book. Surely they can't rub him out for that.
So in their last four games Easts got to a lead and then conceded: 20 straight points vs Souths 30 straight points vs North QLD, and 32 straight points vs Souths As well as losing to Penrith after being 18-12 up with 3 minutes to play. That's really, really weird for a team that finished first.
Pretty much why I said if Souths can go with them for 50-60 minutes they should win. They didn't need to wait that long. Easts were never going to run them down after Inglis's first try. Why on earth the Bunnies didn't just slot a field goal even with 20 to go, is beyond me.
Yep. They could very easily have put 40 on. Tuqiri had about 4 men inside him when he kicked that ball that Jennings took out. It certainly wasn't an illustration of a 10 point game. After about 10 minutes it was practically all Souths.
Good to see the game was officiated fairly decently too. There were of course some dud calls for both sides but nothing really major that swung the game in either way.
Also wtf is it with the Roosters back three taking out blokes without the ball? Minichiello did it twice tonight and Tupou did it three times last week. They have to have the ball before you can just run up and charge or tackle them, fellas.
Sutton is the best in the business. Games flow much better when he's the main ref for mine. He made some shocking calls in this game though. The Minichiello tackle on Inglis, the offside call after the ball was touched and penalising SBW for passing when that has just been a play the ball all year.
In their last three games, at full strength, Souths are averaging 31 points a game. (Manly were significantly weakened mind you but still.) That's pretty ominous for two teams like Penrith and Canterbury who don't score a lot of points. Souths are 1.40 to win it.
Which Minichiello tackle on Inglis are you referring to? Yeah the call on offside after the kick was touched was wrong. Down town only comes into effect if they're still within 10m when the ball is collected by the opposition. Clearly it was well down field. The penalty against SBW was correct IMO. Running or passing with a simultaneous held call is a take back, sure. Passing off the ground always has been a penalty. It's not a matter of not hearing the "held" call. Williams had to have known he was tackled. Every part of his body was on the ground, including his ball carrying arm.
