How the simulator works

Rob does the simulator take into account tackle breaks or ineffective/missed tackles yet?

Do we actually get to choose tactics apart from selecting the sides?

    Prop (Right, Left)

    Attacking Role
    • Running tight hit-ups off the dummy half
    • Running tight hit-ups off the halves
    • Offloading

    Defensive Role
    • Defending right up the middle of the ruck

Yeah, it's fully functional at the moment other than:

    - proper time-keeping
    - general play kicking
    - offloads
    - special restarts (everything at the moment just starts with a play-the-ball)

    Second Row (Right, Left)

    Attacking Role
    • Running hit-ups off the halves
    • Running into gaps off the halves
    • Offloading

    Defensive Role
    • Defending three across from the ruck

Maybe some ball playing ability for second rowers?

For the likes of Chris Bailey, Glen Stewart etc.

I see. So I assume kicking for the touchline is not possible. :p (Is that legal anymore)

Nah IMO. That comes in offloads, locks will probably have some sort of distribution key knowing Prince and his love for Tongue and Hilder.

    Off a 20m restart?

    Yes.

I remember Johns doing it Origin and catching the Qld'ers off guard.

    Lock

Lock is frankly the position I'm least happy with at the moment, in attack at least. The original plan was to give several options for the role of the lock in accordance with tactics - ball-player, extra second rower, extra wide runner etc - however I encountered an annoying problem early on that I ended up using the lock the fix.

For every play, there's someone taken out of the line by the fact that they're playing the ball. As such, the lock is always involved in a reshuffle to fix this problem. Essentially, he either plays the role of one of the halves, one of the centres or one of the second rowers in attack, for every play - he's basically an on-field utility. Someone like Luke Lewis, Alan Tongue or Matt Hilder would be perfect for the role as it also comes with the burden of being the main defender, but the likes of Paul Gallen or Tonie Carroll would be much better served in the second row.

I'll try to change this up in future releases, however it's important to remember the role of the lock as what it is now.

    Attacking Role
    • Playing as either a half, centre or second rower depending on who is playing the ball

    Defensive Role
    • Defending one across from the ruck
    • Along with the hooker, the most important defender

    Play them at lock. :p

So would you play Dean Young at lock if you were controlling the dragons?

  15. Andato BJT Manera

    Neville Costigan possibly.

    I remember Brett Finch.

    Yeah, that'd work really well.

The likes of Young being effective isn't what makes me unhappy though; it's the fact that John Morris suddenly becomes an awesome option there. We'll live though. :p

Haha, out on the full. Penalty; game lost. :p

Hmm, the Knights would have a few options. Hilder, Rogers (if Dureau is playing with Mullen in the halves). Even someone like Karawana or Con Mika would fit. Not sure if they are up for the defending.
