Looks like it was something of a ball tearer. Youngs being poo might explained Dickson's continuing presence in the England XXII.
Um, yes, quite. Moving on. Good try from Tait? Surprised he's not mentioned more in connexion with the national team.
Yeah Tait was our best player*, actually trying to run proper lines rather than firing it through the hands until someone drops it. Better than Goode that's for fucken sure. *edit maybe ought to say Ayerza tbf
Tait's problem - and it's a problem I shared - is that his running aspect is that of a man making a panicked beeline for a departing train. If he wasn't holding the ball one imagines he'd be waving his arms in the air. Contrast him with a Mark Cueto who, even at top speed, has the air of an Edwardian gent perambulating around Kew Gardens with a matron aunt and a briarwood full of Old Pedarast. What Tait needs is not a sprinting coach but an elan coach.
Really good to see Cowan-Dickie get some game time at the weekend. Don't know if I've mentioned it before but I really rate him. Saw him a fair bit last season at Albion and Exeter loaned him back to us over christmas for a couple of games as part of his rehabilitation from injury. Was at the game against Leeds and he was unbelievable. At jut 20 can really see him being a great player in a few years.
Yeah his throwing against Leeds wasn't great, but then he only converted from loosehead a year or so ago, so there's still time
Manu back for Sunday. Maybe. Good new for the Tigers and, obviously, England ultimately. Although the article does say he's "unlikely" to play versus the Leekists or the plucky, etc Eyeties. Could be a very handy bench option tho, what with Ford now in situ Goode seems increasingly pointless.
Got to wonder whose chips he pissed on. "Please sir, I want to play at 10" "Full-back? It's a noble calling..." "No. 10. Fly-half" "You want to fly down the wing do you lad? Wind whistling in your ears..." "No, you don't understand. I want to be the pivot. The fulcrum..." "Tighthead? Well...I'm not sure...I suppose we could truck in a lot of sausages..."
Brown played there versus Johnny Frog for all but about 8 minutes of the game when May got a busted snozz. Goode slotted in at #15. Which, tbf, is as it should be; if we must have Goode at all wing really isn't his thang. MB's obviously a much better FB than wing, but he's also a lot quicker than Goode. EDIT: On Weeman's point about Manu not playing in the back three; I still see him having great potential as a wing. Think it's possible his natural position. At least two of his big bros have played there for Leicester with distinction.
The reasons I wouldn't want Manu playing on the wing are: 1. I don't think he'd get enough ball (in the right places) 2. I haven't seen enough of his kicking game for me to be comfortable with him playing there. I'm not saying he couldn't do it, I just don't remember seeing it. And Ben Youngs' brother plays hooker, but that doesn't mean he'd do well there.
No, true, but Manu a much more similar physical specimen to Alex and Andy than Tom is to Ben. &, tbf, it's a matter of record Tom Youngs is a converted centre too.
