    Game needed more Cuthbertson.

Yeah Hoffman should never have been expected to make that tackle, he was staying in position in case Gordon cut back inside. Sironen completely bought a fairly telegraphed dummy. Hoffman wasn't anywhere near as good as they were saying though. I loved how Gould kept getting asked about him and kind of played it down every time.

Surprised you didn't go to the game.

Maybe Daley is thinking of using Graham as the utility if something happens to Gidley seeing he played there for what seemed like most of the game.

  6. Julian BJ Taylor

He played there because City didn't have another hooking option. They had to pick Peats ffs.

He said today Gidley will be that option and if he's injured its out of McCrone and josh Reynolds.

    GTM?

    Nah I don't think so.

McCrone was Hoffman's man. Sironen had to worry about Jackson running a line. If he takes McCrone - short ball and Jackson goes through a yawning gap. Gordon wasn't even in shot.

Hoffman was slow getting across. Hoffman's mistake IMO. I mean yeah, technically if you fall for a dummy you've made a mistake and in theory it's always better to take the man with the ball but Sironen didn't create the problem. He was in a two on one and guessed wrong. I can't blame him though. Jackson scores untouched if he comes in and McCrone passes.

If Hoffman commits further accross and mcrone turned the angle runner underneath then hoff would be getting crucified for that so i don't see the issue with hoffmans read.

Disappearing act under the high ball?

What angle runner? The only runner in play was Jackson and he was clearly running outside McCrone. He was running an inside line but not a cross line.

What a waste of a spot for a potential origin player then.

Fmd you obviously aren't a player of the game. Just because Jackson eventually ended up running a line outside McCrone theres no reason why Jackson couldn't have cut off his right foot and have been turned inside by mccrone. I personally wouldn't have wanted to tie in across any further than hoffman did because as u can see there was little tying in on his inside.

A few of the props threw their names up but that was about it imo. Uate will probably get some hype in the media, all of the halves were pretty poor which is probably a tick in Carney's books if anything.

I thought Jackson was Gordon ftr. He was running back on the angle, so if he changed his line slightly he would've ended up back inside and Hoffman was covering that. McCrone was on his outside as soon as he got the ball so he was always Sironen's man IMO, and Hoffman couldn't over-commit to the outside because Jackson was cutting back in.

Merrin was excellent in the first 20. I know Grant played a lot better than Merrin did for NSW last year but FMD Merrin is so much better as a player in general.

Yeh Merrin has really come on this year, I think he's pretty much a sure thing for a bench spot. His ability to offload is a huge plus over the other props up for selection.

Such a shame to hear Daley say he thinks Gallen is a bakrower and he's probably unhappy about having to play in the front row. No doubt Gallen has been getting into his head about how good he is on the fringes and how good his ball playing is, will shit me so much if the cunt does what he does at Cronulla and just clogs up backline movements overrides his halves for the ball.

Merrin is one of the most improved forwards in the game this year. Getting through tonnes of work in attack and defence and his ballplay is becoming more polished/safe. He still has a way to g o but hes a bloke i want in the Blues side.

I doubt Gallen will play on the edge. He'll play lock IMO.

Tolman didn't do his chances any harm either.

    18 runs (168 metres) 28 tackles (0 missed).

I reckon Mase put his name up for a bench position too, although Daley didn't seem too keen on him.
