Karl - The Simpsons - (Harvey Fierstein) Back when the Simpsons actually contained emotion and depth, and wasn't merely a frantic string of banal jokes in which the fate of the characters is never in doubt. He only appeared in one episode but it was the single best cameo in terms of both writing and execution in the shows history, IMO. In 15 minutes the character exhibited more backbone and substance than any number of other ancillaries. http://gorillavid.com/4suztg3e4ysp Basil Fawlty - Fawlty Towers - (John Cleese) The quintessential hard-luck protagonist. Cleese was always a satirical genius but his situational humour was not some people's cup of tea. He won a lot of people over with this short-lived comedy not just through his writing but also his persistence as an actor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3ZnzK1Ax0&feature=relmfu , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78b67l_yxUc Lord Flashheart - Blackadder - (Rik Mayall) Not easy to upstage Hugh Laurie and Rowan Atkinson (at the same time) but Mayall managed to do it in virtually every appearance he made on Blackadder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63K-wEaGxRc Rachel Goldstein & Frank Holloway - Water Rats - (Catherine McClements, Colin Friels) Too hard to split them. Together they made what I consider to be the best Australian drama series in our history. Their portrayal of the stereotypical Aussie larrakin (what in the US would be called a "maverick cop") and the way they played off each other bordered on perfection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=6jXa-kMdmg8#t=341s , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyAxQFI0Gxk
