Worst Origin Selections/Non-Selections Ever.

Well let's see. At the time, even though I took an opposite view, I wasn't actually against the selection once it was decided either he or Sutton would be wearing the 14 jersey based on a single training session. I thought it an asinine process and if those were Daley's two preferences, Reynolds should be there in a canter. Ftr, if it was up to me, I wouldn't have picked either of them.

I may be overcompensating a little bit on account of EWS, Julian and others saying he was potentially better than Gidley (which, respectfully, is one of the worst calls I have ever seen either of them make). And of course there is an element of hindsight involved. That's true with practically every player named in this thread. But yeah, I had plenty of reservations about Reynolds at the time. And all of them were vindicated in his 14 minutes, as well as some unexpected additional ones - bad defence and bad service.

Based on the other options available at the time, he probably doesn't belong in here. Then again, I honestly think he was less useful to NSW than Jamie Buhrer was.

 

Tbf, I will admit 14 minutes in a losing game is obviously not the best or fairest appraisal of a player. But I sure as shit wouldn't be the coach volunteering to try the experiment for a second time. As you say, he was pretty fucken abysmal.
