In light of the carnage we saw in the P1 game between the Parrots and Sabres, who is the man who can contain Downes most effectively? If ever there was one. The scary part was that during the regular season it took till round 9 for Downes not to have a good game. Downes fouls out with 5 points shooting a miserable 8.3% Most likely at the hands of some good D from Herd and McDougal. Round 10 saw Ocelots face the Parrots and we saw a juggernaut defensive display from Jake Howe and Downes shoots 43% Once again it wasn't a poor showing by Downes by any means but you can't help but feel that he would have had an even better night if it wasn't for Howe and perhaps Morris. Round 11 against a Mo's wasn't a particularly bad outing either but Downes only shot 37% Weaver ended up racking a 9.5 MGR there and it was probably due to some excellent D on Downes on top of his offensive exploits. Then came the finals series against the Tigers. Downes shoots an unflattering 29% Most likely due to some good D from Hall and Ames. Morgan too looks to have focused a bit more on defence that game. Then this here wasn't a bad performance by any means but he struggled a bit to get his shots off Shooting 42% Probably some good defensive pressure from Hall once again as he had a super defensive show in that game. So if you were to have anyone in your team to guard Downes, who would it be?
You're actually a good defender but for some reason I feel you lack the athleticism to deal with Downes. In his last outing against you guys he got an 8.5 but he did only shoot something like 39%. As for Narang, he's just not the same player he used to be. Nowitzki probably not a bad call though.
It depends where he plays. Either way was going to be a mismatch at the 3 or 4, but I think he's more dangerous to the 3 because of the mismatches he creates now that he's developed an outside game (although he's still probably a better 4). Personally I'd take Welker. He's not an elite defender IMO, but he can play 3 and 4 and also can run the offence. Make Downes play D. He seems to play worse when he has someone to defend iirc.
