It starts really, really slow. After about 3 hours it really starts to open up though. You only control 1 character, but can dictate how members of your party fight with the new system. It generally works pretty good, and you switch to different paradigm (the name of the system) styles on the the fly for the whole team. So battles are less about what attacks you're choosing, but switching between these styles depending on the enemies you're facing, buffs and debuffs you need to use, healing that needs done, etc. It works well considering the fast paced action. Character skills and progression are very linear, and some may see this as a good thing or a bad thing. I like the fact I could choose what direction I wanted to go in in FFXII, but I disliked the fact that it was pretty unnecessary since you'll learn everything anyway, and pretty much made classes and managing your party unnecessary since everyone could learn all the most vital skills and magic pretty early on. I'll hold my final judgment on FFXIII's progression when I've played more than the 5 hours in I am atm.
I've played 4 hours total so far, and it gets much better in Chapter 3, when you can start leveling up and using paradigms. Loving the challenge as well, the boss in it owned me a few times.
Definitely pretty annoying. I like Lightning and Snow tho, and Sazh seems OK too. Even Hope is OK, and I thought I'd be hating him.
Yeah, agreed with all of that. They've done Hope well, despite him being a little bit of a bitch. They need a bitch character though, so whatever. Vanille would be much more likable if she didn't have the most bloody dialog. It seems she does so far anyway, so it's a bit of a pain. I don't mind her character tho, just how much she's talking.
He and Snow seem like the most useful party members to me so far, if only because Snow can go sentinel and she can go medic when you are in trouble.
Yeah, but it works well. Especially with buffing/debuffing. I hated it in FFXII where you had to sit for 10 minutes casting shitty buff/debuff spells, but in here you can just let the AI do it. The AI is pretty smart too, there has only been one time I lost because of it (it didn't heal me), but other than that it's smart. I'm really liking it more and more so far.
Just got Platinum for AC2. Awwww yeaaah. Do a happy dance. Ending was a mind **** but yea fairly got right into the whole game. Devo its over.
Someone so should have dressed up as Kefka or Ultros. That being said, the total lack of FFVI costumes is disgusting.
Check out the bewbs on the bird in the fifth one - dressed up with some asian guy as the pair from FF8.
