I think in the last World Cup they had 1 local player.

 

Lomax and Roby back for St Helens and they finally win a game

Then management goes and fucks it up by deciding (allegedly) to give Laffranchi a contract extension.

 

In the role he is being used in. If he actually got to play on the right edge he'd be a strong but unspectacular player. But he is being used as a front rower where he is a complete waste.

tbh even if he did get played in the second row I wouldn't be too keen on him. He'd hit holes, offload a bit and work overtime in defence to keep one side of the ruck tight but that isn't what St Helens need at the moment. They have plenty of decent backrowers and while he would be one of their better ones, it is a poor use of money and a quota spot.

 

I've been watching a few Catalans game recently and I like the look of their young fullback Morgan Escare. It is still early days and I've only seen ~3 games but he looks like the most promising young French player I've seen in a long time.

 

There are a few full games up on Youtube if you don't have Eurosport. Most of the games are Catalans though, so you'll have to put up with French commentary.
