Yeah cause if I'd pick Edwards to play fullback instead of Latrell or Turbo clearly that means I think he's better than them. Cause its all in a vacuum right....get fucking real.

Lol 'something I will never mention...'
Again not my problem if you cant put 2 and 2 together.

Its like talking to a fucking eggplant.

And this is demonstrably false. Even when Penrith have been comfortably beaten, less ball, less field position, less running metres Edwards still managed to rack up over 90-100 kick return metres and 250m+. You show me all the games where a bloke's side is getting flogged by 24+ and still making 270m and 100 kick return metres.

In contrast, the other night only managed 50 kick return metres......still racks up 290m running again in a losing side.

Its bullshit to say this is all due to playing for Penrith. There are teams who easily beat their opposition on the weekend whose fullbacks werent racking up numbers anything even close to that. And its just such an easy argument to make saying oh hed be mediocre if he played at so and so. How convenient that its completely unfalsifiable.

Loving the comparative judgements tho. Patten, Dugan....Charlie fucking Staines. Hahaha.

    Now who can’t fucking read.
You’ve made the distinction that you think Latrell & Turbo are better, but would pick Edwards over them.
That means you think he should be 2nd in line, not that you think he’s better.

Then you whine because people thought you were saying he should be higher than 3rdv in line, which you were.

If Teddy is out, replacing him with Edwards is a safe option, true. Though Edwards isn't quite as creative, they both have similar running games. So I do follow your thinking.

Thing is, NSW would lose too much if Teddy was unavailable. If anything, the last thing the Blues need is a fullback who generally attacks down 1 side of the field, running for 300m. Guys like Hynes or Drinkwater would provide the creativity to put the attacking weapons in the 3 quarters into better positions to rip and/or tear.

I never compared him to Staines and never said his performance was all due to playing at the Panthers.

If you would like me to respond please readdress your post with some intellectual honesty this time.

Kaloamatagi must play SOO this year, he's now the best edge backrower in the game IMO. Can play left or right, just so long as he's in the side I don't really care.

    And for reasons like this;

I like Olakau'atu as well but would like to see him put together a more consistent rung of games first.

Crichton really improved last year as a 2nd rower, dropped his excessive defensive workload and really improved his attack but not sure he will have played enough games before origin.

Any 2 of those 3 I would be really happy with but realistically one of Martin or Murray is going to be selected, I just pray it's not both.

I think Murray is an absolute lock to play on the right edge, and they will put Koala on the left with Martin on the pine. Crichton could also get a spot there too if he plays enough, but probably won't.

QLD have an issue with Capewell. His defence for Brisbane has been gross end of last year, and continued it along. Nanai is in the same boat, they both are missing 5+ tackles a game way too often. It's time to get Fifita back into the side.

I still tend to think Murrary could start the game at lock with Yeo coming on once it opens up a bit. with you 100% on Koloamatangi

I have no issues with Murray in a lock rotation, just don't want to see him picked as a second rower.

Game 1 is just over 3 weeks away. How are we thinking the Maroons team will end up looking like?

The spine/14 rotation and the backline at large more or less picks itself. Gagai is having one of his better seasons in recent times, and Val should be fine on game day. Wingers are a bit iffy; Oates has been out injured for a lot of the season, but has been good when he's around. As for the other, Cobbo is ying and yang, Coates barely does any work out of his own half, and Taulagi just isn't playing to the standard he set last year. If Cobbo didnt have an average of 2 errors a game I'd pick him, but it's just too risky. There's the Ponga v Walsh question too, but it has to be Ponga if he can take the field.

As for the forwards, we simply have a fuckton of worthy players to choose from this year. While being great for depth, it sucks that there will be a few players who I'd like to see not make the side.

18th man is pretty likely to come into calculations this year, so it's more than just the ceremonial spot of seasons past. I'd probably pick a guy like Capewell there, while he has been a bit shit at times, he does have some utility value that will be valuable if someone is rubbed out.

Anyway, this is what I'd probably go with:

    1. Ponga
    2. Oates
    3. Holmes
    4. Gagai
    5. Taulagi
    6. Munster
    7. DCE
    8. Papalii
    9. Grant
    10. Tino
    11. Kaufusi
    12. Fifita
    13. Carrigan

    14. Hunt
    15. Cotter
    16. Arrow
    17. Collins

    18. Capewell

    Forwards who miss out:
    Welch
    Horsbrugh
    Flegler
    Gilbert
    Hopgood
    Loiero
    Fotuaika
    Ofahengaue

    2. Coates/Hammer
    3. Holmes
    4. Gagai
    5. Cobbo
    6. Munster
    7. DCE
    8. Carrigan
    9. Grant
    10. Tino
    11. Kaufusi
    12. Fifita
    13. Cotter

    14. Hunt
    15. Flegler
    16. Arrow
    17. Collins

    18. Walsh

Don't think Oates will be fit, so leaving him out. Capewell can't be picked with the way he is defending, the cunt is missing so many tackles. Hopefully Fifita/Kaufusi can play 80mins, if not Arrow can cover there if required.

Papalii - He is cooked at rep level I think. Was only trusted with 20mins a game last year, and he has probably declined since then.
Welch - Hasn't done enough. Playing for Melbourne isn't a reason to pick him.
Fotuaika - Cunt has been huge, and should probably be picked ahead of Flegler or Collins, but I likely overrate them.

I'd only be picking Capewell as 18th man for HIA contingency. Though probs only Ponga will be rubbed out, so maybe Walsh is the go.

Really hope Oates can recover by then, his season has been fucked.

  13. Magic AJ Parker

Any have they push Ponga out for Walsh?

  14. jazman84 JM Eightyfour

Surely they go with Ponga if he's fit to play, for game 1 at the very least. He was our best player last year, I guess if he has a shocker they might look at going with Walsh.

Walsh has been very good so far this season, remains to be seen how he goes in big stage matches though. I'd rather he play a finals series and perform well before being picked ahead of Ponga.

  15. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Fuck Walsh. Ponga if fit has the jersey.

Surely Ponga has come up dusty after his HIA on the weekend... Latrell v Hammer has me very concerned too... wtf he thinking?

  20. jazman84 JM Eightyfour

I guess the fact he didn't pick Capewell is a decent choice.
