So I bought the old man a new TV, but the cunt can't find my home wifi network. But for some reason it finds my mobile if I hotspot it. The indo slut at sony reckons it has something to do with needing 2.4GHTZ from the modem, but she couldn't tell me why or how to do it.

Any body had experience with this, or know what I'm talking about?

Everything wireless needs 2.4 GHTZ. You can blame your microwave oven for that. What sort of modem is it?

Netgear Wireless Cable Voice Gateway EMTA CH3000-`1STAUS

My PS4, phones, iPads and my Samsung TV all connect via WIFI. For some reason the Sony Bravia can't find the network.

There are two bands that most wifi routers operate on - 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz. If your router is set up as 5.0 then the tv won't be able to find the signal

I dont know the specs of that but RTFM...

Maybe ask on the forum there if it's possible to reconfigure it somehow. I've told you why you need 2.4. As to how to get that... you might just need a better modem.

They did a few years ago. Maybe that has changed. Can you explain?

    ^^

Though interference from things such as microwaves are possible. It's not what the sony lady was saying though

Ok so how does he resolve it?

  11. Chewie JA Chewie

If it's the problem the sony lady is saying it might be then he'll need to change his network to 2.4GHz band instead of 5.0GHz

How do I do said things?

You'll have to go to 192.168.0.1 and have a look around to see any settings that might be relevant.

If it asks for a username/password it'll likely be admin/password

Yeah, I'm already logged into that site. But fucked if I know what to do.
