    NSW City: Cribb, Armstrong, Lewis, Parker, Flack, Popovic, O'Neill, Gonzalez, Hunt, Welker, Wilson

    The local rivals kick off their provincial seasons with a face-off that matches the trial from prior this year's victorious Origin campaign. Looking at that match will no doubt give City confidence as they won a low-scoring encounter by 70 runs.

    In a match up that sees both teams put forward potent spin attacks, City take the cake with no less than four of the top five spin bowlers in the competition. On top of that, City will draw their edge from their formidable middle order, in which Parker and Scott Flack will look to draw on their dominant BS form, Popovic and O'Neill have proven quality, and so Cyclones no.3 Gonzalez is effectively an afterthought at number eight.

    One thing Country have to boast about on their side is pace spearhead Andrew James. The speedster has had a rough history in representative cricket but proved he has the weaponry to take top-level wickets in this year's Origin series. He could well be the key man here, as the only bowler on either side who could really break through an innings before it's even started, and given that kind of a platform, Country have the quality and experience to see out the result.

    In the end such an upset seems a touch fanciful. While Country will be by no means a pushover, the depth of City's batting combined with a near-uplayable 4th innings attack should get them a three-wicket win.
