I hate how we have so many inconsistent, overrated and plain shit players, especially in important positions. McCullough is quickly becoming my most hated player, such a shunt unless you need to steal a burrowed close range try.
I'm starting to agree with MF about Hodges. He can pull off some amazing shit, but in between that he's a massive liability.
http://www.nrl.com/solid-bulldogs-beat-broncos-24-14/tabid/10874/newsid/72495/default.aspx check out the "try saving tackle" from Barba at the 24 second mark, how that went unpenalised i'll never know, I bet no one ever speaks about it either.
He'll walk in, as usual. He's the biggest myth of the modern game. I disagree with EWS when he says if QLD lost regularly he would under pressure to maintain his spot. It's the club football, attacking football mentality that is the problem. As long as he continues to play or appear to play better attacking footy at club level, there's no chance of his impeachment, regardless of who wins. The only chance of that is if an equally good attacking centre comes along. We simply don't have anyone to challenge Hodges on the narrow and idiotic criteria setup by the selectors, and most mainstream opinion. If you sat in on a DT meeting and suggested an op-ed about why Hodges shouldn't be picked, they'd look at you like you're from Mars or something. It doesn't compute, because the attack-junkie and club form mentality is so deep and entrenched that they can't even comprehend your point. If Blake Ferguson was a QLDer he'd be more of a chance of ousting Hodges than Tate is. It's insane. It's the same reason why Ashley Harrison is and Dallas Johnson was, under pressure even when we're winning. If Harrison turned in a performance like Thaiday did last year, he'd probably be dropped.
I had an argument with my wife's boss last year. He used to coach QLD U19's. He was trying to say that Justin Hodges was a defensive centre, because he played on the right. So I agree with you that the mentality is deeply entrenched, and not just in the media. He also saif that Matt Gillett was the best Bronco forward at the moment...
From a QLD selection view point, I don't think we have anyone challenging Hodges /the centre position full stop, let alone from this attack junkie criteria you're speaking of. Wingers are the same...... Front row is similar..... QLD are very thin on depth. It's been coming for a few years.......
I thought a punch was thrown by a bulldogs player at Wallace (I think) when the tackle first happened / they were still on the ground. No replays from Ch 9........couldn't get a good look at it. edit: think it was Reynolds on Wallace.
I don't know how you manage to throw Norman in that list and leave out Wallace. Agenda is agenda..... Gilletts defence shown up again. He can't even muscle up on Barba to stop him from scoring. The cunt will be a dead set liability if picked for QLD
I thought he (Granville) had a little trouble with his hands last night.......threw a shocker at one stage from memory.
His accuracy was bad, but his technique was sexy compared to McCullough. The ball arrived a full second earlier, even if it wasn't a good aim. I'd like to say he'll learn, but Griffin will probably drop him for Prince and he'll never play again.
Lol you blokes are out of control. If he hasn't learnt how to pass accurately from dummy half by now he never will.
