Round 1 - Mighty Ducks Vs. Mighty Sharks @ The Duck Pond

Middle 2nd Period:

both teams are working hard, Ducks in attack, Sharks in defence The puck just seems to be falling the Ducks way, but they can't seem to do anything with it.

After both teams went a man down, Sharks had a PP for a very short time, but now 5v5 as Son returns to the ice. He comes up with the puck almost immediately but is hit by Dafter quickly.

The puck is loose and Torres ends up with it near centre ice. He looks for support, and passes it back to Son who has barely got back to his feet, and he quickly fires it back at Torres. Torres looking around as he moves up ice, he finds Nova just behind him to his right.

Nova thinks about a shot, but he's too far out, he finds Son with the puck instead but Son gets hit again. Izett saw that one coming early it seems. The attack breaks down once more without a decent shot.

 

A pretty small one.

 

Commentary is awesome.

 

Late 2nd Period:

The Sharks have had quite a few shots so far, but all of them have been from a distance or while they're heavily marked and none have even challenged Cribb.

Here comes another one from Laing from the blue line, but it's easily stopped by Cribb and he passes it off to Nova. Who sees a lot of room ahead, the Sharks seem to have got into a bad position and Nova is skating hard, the only man back for the Sharks is Dafter, he hits Nova as he passes to Weaver, but Weaver gets hit by Bots.

That would have been great for the ducks to score, being a man down currently, with McGrath not on the ice.

Nova gets the puck back but the break looks to be over with the Sharks recovering, and he gets hit by Laing now, but somehow keeps the puck, until Dafter hits him even harder and he goes down, the Puck comes to Laing, who is now finding a bit of space himself, he skates past the blue line, fakes, shoots....


... SCORES!!!!!! Laing with the first goal of the season! The Ducks will not be happy after all their attacking.

Ending of 2nd Period:

The Ducks look devastated, they can't believe they're behind in this game. McGrath has been back on the ice for awhile now and will be looking to make up for it.

Sharks are on attack with Izett who takes a shot, but it's easy for Cribb, who quickly gives the puck off to McGrath. McGrath puts the speed on sensing the Sharks have gone too deep again, he sees space upahead and passes for Weaver who is up with one man left to beat. He has a shot before the Bots can get to him but it hits the post, it comes back out into play and McGrath has it after following up, he lines up and shoots....




....... it's wide and the buzzer goes again.
