All caps just for you Cribbage started a thread on fb group regarding our best lineup and this was the first response including a team cant get over Kirisome in the forwards tbh
My post ftr Good time for everyone to post what they'd run out with in Round 1 if they were in Madges shoes - no rumoured signings included so no Teo surgess etc 1.GI 2.Johnston 3.avuva 4.Walker 5.Gray 6.Keary 7.reyno 8.Gurgess 9.Cook 10.Grant 11.Sutto 12.Turner 13.Grevsmuhl 14.Carter 15.Turgess 16.Clark 17.McQueen My rationale on these selections: this pack and bench gives us 3 impact big men who can dent the line and make good metres per carry in The burgess twins and Grant, they can go hell for leather knowing all Clark and Tom who come on are both middle third forwards we also have backline cover from McQueen and hooker relief for Cook from Carter and to a lesser extent Clark, as the game wears on late in halves we use Clark at lock to do the tidying up around the ruck eg 1% plays as the middle tires for both teams and use Carter as a fresh runner out of dummy half against tired packs due to interchange reductions this season. We can maintain this setup regardless of injury as we have Brown as a impact prop out of the side and Tyrell there to play the tidy up role as well as McInnes if a hooking option goes down, Goodwin as backline injury cover etc. if we stay injury free during games we have the luxury of spelling Turner or Sutto with McQueen also
While I'm on a roll really not 100% convinced about any of our hooking options for next season either, Cook had 1 1/2 months of good footy late last year but he's no saviour and McInnes hasn't really impressed me whilst Carter isn't an out and out hooker imo
It's hard to tell how good Oldfield is now. I haven't really seen him play properly for ages. At his best he was better than both Goodwin and Gray IMO but yeah no idea anymore.
Yeah I'd start him with the Bears if he does well if then elevate him, solely for pretty well what you have said
I think Cook showed enough dummy half nous last year to show he'd offer more than the few pieces of individual displays.
Almost everyone I read is supporting him as an 80min hooker I'm just concerned about how he'll go straight up new club coach structures doing so hope I'm wrong though
Neither would I but given Carter exists I wouldn't pick another specialist hooker either. Cook can play 65-70 and Carter can give him a rest and also be part of the back row rotation (ie. not wasting a bench spot). I've been a fan of Cook for ages; I was so stoked to see him do well for Canterbury and then pick up a serious contract. Me and Toolman called it back in 2012.
Good shout. Yeah, as soon as I saw him turn out for the Dogs this season he stood out as a quality hooker in my mind. I was puzzled why he hadn't been well ahead of Lichaa in the pecking order there.
