For instance, just from the list on the first post: The number 8s will be Graeme Swan, James Foster, Mitchell Johnson, Shahid Afridi, James Hopes, K. Mills, JEC Franklin, A Noffke, Andrew Flintoff, Stuart Broad, Daniel Vettori, Ramesh Powar, Murali Kartik, Shakib Al Hasan, Shaun Pollock, Azhar Mahmood. That's a pretty immense list of number 8s. Especially Mahmood, Flintoff and Hopes. In the end though, I think teams are going to need to chase wins, hence needing to pick more specialist bowlers in their XI.
Nah. I posted it last time after the draft was complete using the lists in the team threads' first posts. Those who didn't update theirs don't have the full team up in this thread.
1 El Damo0003 2 Rebels CC 3 Jets CC 4 Youssou N'Dour's Prime Minister's XI 5 Corsair Prycers 6 Caloundra Lighthouses 7 Sticky Wicket XI 8 British Boozers 9 Rams United (pretty much on batting only) 10 The Royal Maharajahs (only because I don't know full 13) 11 Porpoises 12 Tunza CC 13 Hartley CC 14 Curb Crawlers CPL 15 Hurricanes CPL (n/a The Beers) Didn't think I could objectively place my side in there really. I'd probably have myself in the top 10 though I guess.
As it is, I'm one of the few teams to not have a shit fifth bowler. It'd be a bit of an overkill to have a bowling lineup of Sharma, Taylor, Adams, Hopes, Mendis, Watson.
Thing is though. Sarwan is proven at test level. He's not brilliant, but for the middle order he will be fine.
As a third or fourth pick though, he's supposed to the gun of that middle order. I probably just don't know enough about the other lads but that middle order just looks soft to me.
Van Jaarsveld is a gun. He'll average over 40 and Joyce is pretty solid as well. Similar picks to yours, but just from elsewhere. Smith and Attapattu will hold the key for Incey though. And just on your side Ged, I'd have taken a spinner as my last pick as I said and if I needed to win games late in the tournament you could have just moved Hopes up and brought him in. As it is though you can probably use Yuvraj as a prank slow option, not sure if he bowls in the longer form at all though.
Prycers: Rana Naved Lighthouses: Mark Butcher Tunza: Johan Botha SWXI: Mo Kaif Crawlers: Murali Vijay, Imran Tahir, Johan van der Wath 'Canes: Yusuf Pathan Royal: Michael Di Venuto, Ealham, Mark Cosgrove, George Bailey, Shoaib Malik Hartley: Nik Pothas, Adil Rashid, Ravi Bopara They are the ones missing from the first post...
As all good Sri Lankan batsman should, Paranavitana averages 30 odd with the ball in fc cricket as an offie.
One bloke that I'm surprised didn't go is Lance Klusener. Averages 40 with the bat and 30 with the ball in fc cricket and had a 'decent' test record as their allrounder. On stats alone, this cool cat should have gone, too. http://www.cricinfo.com/india/content/player/29976.html What's the story with him not playing fc cricket in two yrs?
