There are 201 NRL games this season. Apparently we were meant to have ZERO VIDEO REFEREEING ERRORS.

    How long did that last?
    Four games.

    lol.

The new system seems better, but video referees are human are there are grey areas. Fuck the zero errors thing gets me.

I do like the improved speed of most decisions, but other than that it's not giving much difference I think, will be the same mistakes as always.

Pretty much. And with mistakes will come the reduction in speed, I'm strongly predicting.

The Tedesco try was so bad.

The bunker system has been an improvement for mine, although Referees seem to be using it more than ever.

Fucking Braith and Gasnier talking about calls over the weekend though and the bunkers rulings:
'We don't need black and white, we need some interpretation and common sense',
well cunts you and every other commentator has called for consistency for ever. They're now more consistent than ever on the shepherd/obstruction rule, its not pretty but its being called straight down the line. If you go back to interpretation we're going to have replays every weekend of replica situations in two separate games, but one will be a try and one will be a no try and there'll just be confusion.

Agreed. I'll take consistency over grey ruling and different interpretations.

Yeh they've finally got the obstruction rulings right.

The only change I'd make to the rule is if that if a player takes a dive ala Jamie Lyon then going to ground and not making an attempt to get to the player should be considered their defensive effort.

I hate dives and soft shit like that so much. There needs to be something stopping people from doing it, if it starts becoming a big problem like staying down is, could make it an 8 point try. Do that once, and nobody will dive again.

Was mentioned on 360 last night that the NRL has come out and said that the Bunker has a 99% success rate so far this season.

    That'll do me.

I've got to admit the bunker is an improvement on the previous system but it's very little to do with the technology imo. It's the mandate to make quicker decisions. As in, when you see a clear knock-on from one angle, don't go looking again from another; it's a fucking knock-on whichever way you look at it. That should've been the norm all along. However, as I and some others predicted, with the increased error rate in the bunker over the season's progression, decisions are slowly but surely taking longer and the old habit of reviewing multiple angles for already fairly clear-cut decisions is creeping back in.

But yes it's an improvement. Not an improvement that would warrant the sort of money they paid but an improvement nonetheless. The reason the bunker, despite actually accelerating decision-making time and slightly improving the accuracy, is getting hammered by the public is because of ludicrous claims like the one above coupled with the expense of the system. Greenberg and the NRL made a rod for their own backs by saying there would be a 100% accuracy rating prior to the season's commencement; that lasted all of 5 minutes. And here they are again making another ludicrous claim at which anyone with a brain will laugh. Leave it to these idiots to simultaneously, marginally improve the system whilst inviting public condemnation and mockery.

Those stats always include the 10 metre rule at each play the ball, even though the bunker doesn't really rule on those. It's always going to skew the results to the upper 90s.

As opposed to black and white errors? :p

Decent chance for Colesy's thread imo.
