    It might help us split NZ for a North/South game in the future. That's the main reason. Might be able to split NZ for the Rossleigh Trophy in the future. However, we're short of South Islanders for a nice natural split.

    How? North Island/South Island's the only reasonable way IMO and we're well short on South Islanders. Even if you include Athlai under Souff.

    In fairness the British split has been far from even.

    While I hate to admit it the Celtic Provinces will really struggle, whereas England will still retain their standard.

    My biggest thing about splitting NZ would be that we would then be seriously reducing the standard of the PC and it may well actually struggle to be of BS standard in quite a few games.

    Well SM suggesting to split you came across more as a general comment, not just one for a NZ tournament. That is was meant to be provinces, not 2 sides.

    In a NZ split I'd play for South, in a province franchise split I'd probably side with Hurricanes. Wouldn't mind going Highlanders either though.

    Carve out Welly IMO. I only entered North because of Wellington being North. Everyone knows Southern rugby is where it is at.
