Following the conversation about them in another thread, I thought I'd start up a thread about them here. There seems to be a perception that they wouldn't have the playing numbers to actually represent but after just a quick look at the New Zealand available players, this isn't the case. Basically, as of next season, I really think we should be going by CricSim eligibility for these rep games. Not only do these limbo players deserve to represent something that actually means to them, but having all these ring-ins really detracts from Origin IMO, particularly when one of them is captain (no offence Roaddogg, you cheered as hard as anyone for NSW on here but I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from). A New Zealand squad, after about 10 minutes of research, would look something like this: 1. Davis 2. Bots 3. Yates 4. Harding 5. Torres 6. Dorn 7. Jennings 8. Weaver 9. Izett 10. Humble 11. D Taylor 12. Olsen 13. Morgan 14. Chung 15. Denton 16. Monkeywrench 17. Astele 18. Darts 19. Kirikiri 20. Lozzana 21. Ritchie 22. Witters 22. Scoble Bold = top 100 post rank That forward pack is actually gun, based on RLSim postcount anyway (which will be more relevant next season than anything that's gone before) and the backline has some really active blokes in it who will get better as things go along too.. plus obv Bots and Dorn who are already quality players. It's not a great team, not yet anyway, but I actually think it's better than the team they field in CricSim... and although that CricSim team isn't in the PC (yet), they play against GB and Vic regularly and don't have their players all eligible for other provinces. I'll see if I can do the same for Vic and GB. I actually think it could really encourage some of the Brits who are so active in Seasonal Rugby to join up and get more interested if there's a GB spot at stake.
Good work Cribb. I had a feeling NZ could do it. It also means we get rid of Izett. Just you and me, Cribby boy.
Anything that frees up a bit of space in the QLD selection room, and improves my chances of making the team is a positive IMO.
Damo and Gazza are two of the best young props in the comp. Damo can play 2nd row as you've played him also.
On the Gb issue. I've got a few in the clones squad who could form th e basis of a side. Slog Graham, Logan, Verigotta, and Swimmerdoog all seem to be showing some interest, I know a few other clubs have some GB fellas also.
GB's a lot harder - they have 20 odd players too but lots of them are backs. 1. Ames 2. Logan 3. Graham 4. Luffman 5. Fittaman 6. Whicker 7. S Laing 8. Blunder 9. Hornby 10. Nova 11. C Laing 12. Verigotta - not in the top 100 post ranks but only joined a few days ago and has 41 posts without playing, so he'll get there 13. Short 14. McGrath 15. Clough 16. Johns 17. Deane 18. Morris 19. McDougal 20. Sweetman I reckon they'd lose to NZ, but it'd be close as it's a competitive team. I reckon you could get a few more to sign up if there was a GB jersey on the line too. Farny for example actually has 15 posts in this subbie but hasn't registered..
Yeah definitely give it the thumbs up obv. The last time I checked the numbers for both sides was before the season started so I probably should have checked again since. I knew NZ had quite a few, didn't realise GB had so many and Eds was keen to put together a combined side so that was probably going to happen anyway. But yeah as you said they are lacking in the forward department which can be made up with some more of those brits.
I don't understand how you only have 35 posts here, you are always in threads looking for a team. I guess there's not a lot else to post about when you're not playing. I think I brought up the possibility of signing you a while back in the Donkeys forum.. I don't think anyone had any objections, it just wasn't likely we'd play you unless you upped your activity heaps so we kind of meh'd it and moved on.
