Where'd you get a job?

 

On an island off gladstone doing construction work for an LNG site.

I don't really have a lot of contacts within Bechtel as we're a subbie for them.

I'm on GLNG. From the two that my company has sub-contracts with (G and APLNG) all I've heard from those on both is that GLNG is far better to work on. I haven't had any issues so I tend to agree.

What's your trade?

 

Yeah. It'd be either Bechtel or MacMahons I would have thought.

I do all the soil and concrete testing for Bechtel so I've got to know a lot of the pipe crew of Bechtel's pretty well. They all seem like good blokes.

I'm actually one of the lower paid blokes on the island but my job's a lot of office work so I'm not too fussed. I'd be clearing about $2200 a week but I have to pay about 250 a week for my Uni debt. Still good though, particularly living on the island getting buffet breakfasts and dinners. Living there makes it difficult to blow cash, too.

 

Yeah. I'm doing a 6 on, 1 off roster, working 6 days a week. I like having Sunday off as it gives you something to aim for each week.

edit: worked out you meant 5 days, 2 off. I thought you were talking weeks.
