March 8, 3019 of the Third Age. (Year 1419 of the Shire Reckoning) The power of the Enemy is growing. From behind the Mountains of Shadow, atop the Dark Tower of Barad-Dur, the Great Eye of Sauron watches over his lands. He has prepared for this war for centuries. The dark Lord will begin his war soon, not for riches, or for land, but simply to destroy the peoples of Middle earth. What Sauron cannot destroy he looks to corrupt, twist and bend to his will. The head of the Istari, the Wizards, has already succumbed. Saruman, turned traitor to the West, followed by his servant Grima, has escaped from Isengard. They have been disguised by Sarauman's wizardry and are now in hiding amongst the world of Men. The great Eye is fixed on Minas Tirith, the great White City of Gondor. It is there that his forces will strike first, and strike hardest. Riding to Minas Tirith's aid is Gandalf, Mithrandir, the White Rider. He looks to counsel the Steward of Gondor into uniting the scattered armies of the West, before Sauron can tear them apart one by one. Aragorn, heir of Isuldur, and his companions ride with Theoden of Rohan, having fought off the forces of Isengard at the battle of the Horburg. The leaders of the West lie disorganised, distrustful, and vunerable. Gandalf knows that they must unite or they will fall. But the forces of the West have one thing on their side. Two hobbits of The Shire, perhaps the least considered of all of Middle-Earth's peoples, step closer to Mount Doom as each day passes. There they look to undo all the malicious workings of Sauron with a single stroke, the destruction of the One Ring of Power. ~ The West win if the forces of Mordor are all killed and the One Ring is destroyed. The forces of Mordor win if they have half the population or more. Rules 1. Outside of this thread and your QT (if applicable), you do not talk about LOTR mafia. 2. You do not talk about LOTR mafia. 3. Votes must be bolded: e.g. lynch Howe. Other variants such as kill or vote are not allowed. You must unlynch before lynching someone else. You can vote to No Lynch if needed. 4. Days will go on as long as they have to, i.e. until a majority is reached. 5. Nights will be brief if the night orders are in promptly, so do it as soon as you can. If you do not wish to activate a night order, you must send in a PM saying so. 6. Inactives will be warned once, and then replaced. This goes for both posting in the daytime (at least 1 post per day/night cycle is required) and sending in night orders. 7. Do not quote anything from the Moderator that is said outside of this thread, such as role PM's, or pretend to quote anything from the moderator. 8. No editing or deleting of posts. No one cares if you make a spelling error. 9. Once you are dead, you may make one post as a final statement, but it must not contain any unrevealed information or game theorising. It is for a final comment only. 10. Remember that it's just a game. Don't be a dick and don't take things personally. Advice 1. There are several new elements at play here. Making assumptions based on previous games is not likely to help you. 2. Assumptions based on who may be in the game are also to be avoided, as there are a few minor characters who were selected based on what roles might fit them rather than how important a character they might've been. Assuming a character won't be included as they're not in the films, for example, would be fallacious. 3. While it is permitted, be very, very careful about character claiming. Evil forces want you and they want what you're carrying. 4. The Moderator is a fanboy prone to the purplest of prose and so write-ups should not be taken entirely literally. The gist of each write up will be as it happened, but details should be put down to poetic license. 5. In accordance with both the above, be aware that the Moderator may be fucking with you. No I asked Cribbage but got no reply. I'm even the moderator of an obscure subbie, what more can I do?
Going to need this game to be quick, heading overseas in 10 days. If Howe or anyone have any objections I'll be out for a reserve quite happily.
