It was forced on them to a degree though. They just lacked quality front rowers at the time so they had to compensate in other ways. It isn't a style that I'm typically fond of but for such a poor team they pulled it off really well. They were better exponents of long-range tries than anybody else in the comp at the time and I think their ability to play that way helped Uate get noticed a lot more than he would have in other teams imo.
