Yeah AWTA. When I had my rant in the other thread, I wasn't telling people not to select their best team; I was just suggesting that people perhaps over-rated their own players when deciding what the best team was. Moeen Ali has little value though.
Well I don't think he should play ahead of Weerakoon. Could perhaps bat seven and play ahead of Ervine though.
Well, I think that that's a little bit ridiculous. He held his own at test level yet can't make a competition where the best 240 odd players are out.
Ervine averaged 43 in county last season. There is not one player that Hauritz could replace if this was selected on full strength.
And Hauritz averaged 47 last Shield season. It depends how comfortably you are having Styris as your 5th bowler really. I'd have Hauritz in the team somewhere though; I'd play both him and Weeakoon. Ali, Ervine or Cutting would probably go.
Yeah, but Ervine has been a consistent bat for years where as Hauritz has only had one good Shield season.
There's no doubt Ervine's a better batsman than Hauritz; I just don't think he's that good and question whether the added batting is worth what Hauritz would add as a fifth bower. There's certain a bigger difference in their bowling than their batting.
Chris Harris + Scott Styris= adequate 5th bowlers. 1.Jaffer 2.Love 3.Manhas 4.Harris 5.Brown 6.Styris 7.Van Wyk 8.Mills 9.Ahkbar 10.Mcskimming 11.Weerakoon 12th man: Ervine 13th man: Hauritz.
Scott Styris was the failure of the trial game for sure. There were good performances from Benn, Mills and Hauritz as well as Jaffer putting up two half decent scores.
