If Buddy Went to GWS

    Sheedy has come out and urged GWS to throw the required millions at him to secure his services.

    The benefits to GWS would be insane.

    The AFL threw money to Lockett to help out Sydney, which is in some ways comparable to if they were to help GWS now (I believe they have said they wouldn't, money from Hawthorn matches too lucrative I would guess).

    What are your thoughts on the matter?

    What do you think it could bring to GWS etc.

    As bad as it sounds, a forward line with Gunston and Hale as 3rd & 4th talls is already OP. Losing him would be bad but not near as bad as any other club who hypothetically had franklin.

    Reckon GWS should make a play though.

    They should make a play, but I am steadfastly opposed to the AFL giving more money to GWS to help them sign him. If GWS can't build a successful team from the concessions the AFL has given them, they don't deserve success.

    I think everyone can accept the need to give GWS and GC some advantages to be able to compete at some point in the future, but giving them money for the purpose of stealing a player from another team who has invested into making them the footballer he is today (1) is entirely unfair to Hawthorn and (2) completely destroys the integrity of the league by attempting to hand a team a Premiership on a silver platter.

    Wouldn't like it. Cameron is a gun and Patton will be a star. They'd probs lose a few kids if Buddy came.

    Highly doubt he'll end up at the Crows or Lions. Freo are the only real chance imo.

    Wouldn't be the worst thing ever if Buddy leaves though.

    Rough and Gunston up forward with Hale and Bailey rotating isn't terrible.

    Hawthorn have to match any FA offers Buddy gets though. He leaves as a FA and they get like #17. At least in a trade they could grab #12 and #30 plus a player from a team like Freo.

    I reckon we've got the cash available. Our offer to Tippett was financially better than sydney's so we've got at least a million per season in the cap. If he's keen for immediate success then I reckon us with Franklin & Walker next season would be challenging - plus we'd pay more than any other club bar GWS & perhaps freo but I doubt Freo have a million+ in the cap.

    I doubt he'd want to come to adelaide though.

    That last sentence is the only one that matters. Buddy is a social butterfly.

    Freo are more desperate imo. Pav is getting old and Kepler isn't the type of back-up you want.

    All the stats Footy Classified putting on showing that the Hawks have a better winning percentage and winning margin without Buddy.

    Totally agree with Theo, even if were to leave they have the depth options that it won't destroy them as much as it would other clubs.

    Haha by no means do I agree with the stats. Of course the Hawks wouldn't be better off without Buddy but it isn't the end of the world if he chooses to piss off.

    Richmond losing Riewoldt, Adelaide losing Walker would gut the club.
    Buddy leaving Hawthorn, not as much.

    i reckon if richmond were able to replace riewoldt with someone like griff they'd almost be better off. riewoldt's seriously so detrimental in the way he plays. statistically he's great but I reckon he's so chaotic it messes up the gamestyle incredibly.
