That was one of the books they made in a TV show episode, and Ryan Gosling was in it before anyone cared who he was.
Was there one called "it lives beneath the sink" or something like that? Seems to stick in my mind for some reason,
Welcome to Dead House, like I said, was my favourite. I think it was the first where a family moves into a new house, and the town uses that house for sacrifices or something. The Horror at Camp Jellyjam and Welcome to Camp Nightmare, two camps ones I've read were also excellent. One of them has better build up, but a really derp ending though. Say Cheese and Die would round out my favourites.
I think my first time skipping class in my short lived career in education was as an 8 year old during a week where the fill in teacher was reading us that one with the zombie like dog on the cover "The Barking Ghost" I think it was called. The way I saw it a phone call home the parents was much more desirable than nightmares for the next month.
I read a few, the one I remember most was the CYOA about some sort of canyon though. Maybe a CYOA about some island too?
Best for me were: A Shocker on Shock Street Horror at Camp Jellyjam Night at Terror Tower Beast from the East One day at Horrorland
