What Kylez said. My parents have owned 3 and they love it. Only small 5/10% stakes, so fairly cheap too
Depends on the price of the horse, obv. I think my parents paid about $120 a month for 5% stake, then it won a couple of grand so they just reinvested and didn't have to pay for a while which was nice.
Praecido is a non-winner mate. Yeah same. 0-20% shares are the best for just average families or income earners. It depends how much the horse cost to buy at the sales. The training fees vary between City, Country and Provincial trainers and which track the horse is trained/based at. They're a lot cheaper than racehorses but the potential financial return and fun obviously isn't at the same level.
Oliver getting 10 months is so soft. The fact that he was allowed to race during the Spring after he'd already admitted to putting the bet on is even more of a joke. Supposedly there's more to come on Jockeys who have placed bets over the past 6 months. Last thing the sport needs.
Still backing Puissance to take out the Melbourne Cup this year, such a good horse. Got a couple hundred on it in tomorrow's race but quietly hoping it has an underwhelming run and odds continue to blow out for the Melbourne Cup. The longer the race the better he goes.
no way it wins the cox plays IMO. it's a real plodder, reminds me heaps of red cadeaux. if it wins the cup it will only be because a heap of shit horses make the race meaning better ones (like ibicenco) miss out.
Pretty close to buying a horse with my mates. Probably not the best idea as I'm toying with the idea of quitting my job early next year and uni'ing, but yolo right?
the only thing with horses is you look at the expenses and it's all good, then it does a tendon and you have to deal with vet costs and transportation etc for 6 plus onths in the faint hope that it will come back and run another race.
