    Prequel - Iraq

Carrie Mathison is a case worker for the C.I.A.. During her time in the Middle East, she's developed many contacts and sources, some of whom she trusts with her life. One of these sources, a bombmaker, is on death row. Carrie is certain he has information pertaining to a terrorist attack on the United States. Being someone who will happily break rules, ethics and regulations, Carrie sees the potential of preventing a terrorist attack on the United States as being far more important than diplomatic relations. Given this, she bribes her way into the jail where her contact is being held. Pleading with him to give her the information, it is only as she is being dragged away by guards that the bombmaker whispers something into her ear.

'An American prisoner of war has been turned'

    Act 1:

David Estes sits in his office, smirking. Won't this look fantastic on his resume. Under his watch, a team of C.I.A. operatives were successful in rescuing Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody, a presumed dead prisoner of war who had been held in an al-Qaeda compound. Estes attributes this success to himself; and why wouldn't he? It'll advance his career, his prospects - he might as well bathe in his success.

Estes announces to the staff at the Counterterrorism Centre of his success. Nicholas Brody has been rescued. The room is elated however one woman, Carrie Mathison, is horrified.

She has every reason to suspect Nicholas Brody; she trusted the bombmaker with her life. This is just too coincidental. She speaks to Saul Berenson, her mentor, raising her near certain suspicion that Nicholas Brody is the prisoner of war turned, but is rebuffed. Saul realises the danger to both of them in investigating Brody, a now celebrated man.

For now, Nicholas Brody walks free. The threat of al-Qaeda and Abu Nazir is ever strong though. If Brody is not a terrorist, it does not even matter - an attack is coming soon, and America must be ready and alert. Every member of the C.I.A. must work together to take down this threat, and avoid the political meddling that has been rife in the past.

    Rules

    1. Outside of this thread and your QT (if applicable), you do not talk about this game.
    2. You do not talk about this game.
    3. Votes must be bolded: e.g. Lynch Cevno. Other variants such as kill or vote are not allowed. You must (specifically) unlynch before lynching someone else. You can vote to No Lynch if needed.
    4. Days will go on until a majority is reached or until 24 hours are up. If the time limit is reached, there will be no lynch. PLEASE NOTE THIS. 24 HOURS. Where terrorism is concerned, people cannot rest on their laurels.
    5. Nights are a maximum of 24 hours, but can be shorter. If you do not want to use a night action, please say so.
    6. Inactives will be warned once, and then replaced. This goes for both posting in the daytime (at least 1 post per day/night cycle is required) and sending in night orders.
    7. Character claiming is allowed. I've omitted 3 obvious roles to whom the mafia know their identities. It's not going to help you though. This game is as much about politics as it is about killing people, numerous people will want you dead.
    8. No editing or deleting of posts. No one cares if you make a spelling error.
    9. Once you are dead, you may make one final post, but it must not contain any game-related information.
    10. Don't get personal.

Game Related Advice (and read this, you sods)

    1. I'm a sucker for canon. I've tried to construct roles that follow it as much as possible, however that was not always possible
    2. Homeland is a show with a limited cast. As such, plenty of you will be VERY obscure characters. Even with obscure characters, the actual cast probably only numbers 25 :p. With that in mind, and drawing from one, some roles may not follow what actually happens in the show. Speculation is okay - it will help you, but it also will hurt you if you take it too far and are wrong. Some obscures will have OP roles, just like some prominents will have shit roles. Deal with it.
    3. This game will follow a structure that hasn't been used before. It should work but if there are errors, I apologise. For this - speculating on game mechanics should not hurt.
    4. Unlike most other mafia games, I've set it so the town are not guaranteed a win. It's about 60/40 or 65/35 I'd say. If the mafia do win, it's not because they were overpowered or the game was rigged from the start - it was because you were shit.
    5. The best way to win is to be active and contribute
    6. Don't trust people. Most of you will have extra objectives or even objectives that conflict with the common good. Some characters you'd expect to be friends might be foes.
    7. A points system is in play here. Please try to complete secondary tasks for these points - it'll make the game more fun. Playing in character will help, if possible.
    8. If you're new, feel free to ask me for advice. I'll happily help you to the extent that I can. If you're short on theme knowledge, I'll help you where I can too.
    9. I will fuck up. If you suspect it, call me on it. I'll c/d it.

The good win if the threat of terror is removed.
The terrorists win if they possess half of the lynch votes.

Coming out of mafia retirement for this. Better be good

  3. Skippos SM Morgan

    Act 1 has begun.

As such, night 0 is now underway. You have 24 hours. I don't care if it takes me 2 hours to send out PMs, 22 hours is enough anyway.

I'm running odds at $1.02 that Julian and Evilhoopler won't make a post in this thread.

    Any spoiler rules?

Will this game be based on what happens in both seasons or just the first?

  18. Cevno IV Narang

    Looks good.

  19. Skippos SM Morgan

Ah, good point. It'll be based on both purely as I need both season's characters. Spoilers will include S1 & early S2.

  20. Skippos SM Morgan

All PMs sent. Night orders now etc.

Will clear up now - I fucked up in the alignment part of the role PM. Whether you've got town or good, it's the same thing. (mafia would have known what it said anyway as I hate that line of questioning when it occurs)
