    1. Mullins
    2. Nagas
    3. Meninga
    4. Wiki
    5. Nadruku
    6. Daley
    7. Stuart

    Pretty bang on.

  3. Mr Chook MR Chook

    1. Taylor
    2. Hunt
    3. Cronin
    4. Ella
    5. Grothe
    6. Kenny
    7. Sterling

Has gotta be pretty close too.

Parra of the early '80's, Canberra in'94 and Brisbane in '98 would be the top 3 IMO.

Brisbane had a cracking starting side in 97 and 98. Very odd benches and weird hooking options possibly lets them down. The 97 backline though was ridic:
    1. Lockyer
    2. Sailor
    3. Renouf
    4. Mundine
    5. Devere
    6. Walters
    7. Langer

Just on the comparison of our '02 side v our '13 side. I'd put our '13 side just ahead. Fittler in the '02 team makes it real close but if you match up our players positionally I think the '13 side comes out ahead.

    1. Phillips v Mini (Mini 2013)
    2. Mullins v Tupou (Mullins 2002)
    3. Hegarty v Jennings (Jennings 2013)
    4. Hodges v SKD (Hodges 2002)
    5. Mini v RTS (very close as young wingers)
    6. Fittler v Maloney (Fittler 2002)
    7. Wing v Pearce (close....)
    8. Cayless v JWH (JWH 2013)
    9. Bonetti v Friend (Friend 2013)
    10. Cusack v Moa (Moa 2013)
    11. Morley v Guerra (close...)
    12. Fitzy v SBW (bugger, loved Fitzy but SBW 2013)
    13. Ricketson v FPN (Ricketson 2002)

    14. Flannery v Mortimer (different roles played)
    15. Fletcher v Aubusson (Fletch 2002)
    16. Crocker v Cordner (close...)
    17. Lomu v O'Donnell (O'Donnell 2013)

Coach. Stuart v Robinson. (both 1st year coaches and we all know how Ricky has turned out...Robbo 2013)

How can you take Mini over Luke Phillips?

  7. Mr Chook MR Chook

Just personal preference, everyone is entitled to one yeah? You could nit-pick over several positions if you wanted to, not just fullback.

  8. GYR DW Lewis

I feel like nit-pick is the word of the month.

I more or less agree with you on the rest of it. I'd choose Morley, Flannery, Cordner and would've chosen Wing if he was on the bench but I never rated him as a top quality halfback.

  9. Julian BJ Taylor

Raiders 94 and Broncos 97/98 are so far ahead of the rest IMO.

  10. Julian BJ Taylor

Also GYR it's really odd for mine to mention Broncos 1993. Their late 90s side (with the addition of Lockyer, Sailor and several forwards) is so, so much better. The only part of the squad that's weaker than the early 90s is hooker.

  11. GYR DW Lewis

Yeah I didn't really consider Broncos 98 at all tbh. I didn't count Broncos 97 because AFAIC their premiership didn't count

  12. morgieb MC Burridge

    Yeah would probably agree.

Eels had a mint backline, but Price notwithstanding I don't think they had particularly great forwards (I could be wrong here).

  13. Mr Chook MR Chook

    FR Paul Mares
    HK. Steve Edge
    FR. Stan Jurd
    SR. Peter Wynn
    SR. Steve Sharp
    LK. Ray Price

There have been better packs over the years but it was still decent.

EDIT: I should mention that was the '83 pack. You could also include Bob O'Reilly at prop form earlier and also Geoff Bugden and John Muggleton who were quality forwards from the '86 side.

    Canberra and Broncos.

Broncos 98. No way they were under the cap though IMO.

  16. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

If there was a cap, they doubled it.

Broncos had a really good bench and stronger depth, plus I'm obviously ridiculously biased on the matter, but I'd take the 94 starting 13 I think.

Mullins, Nagas, Wiki, Meninga, Nadruku, Daley, Stuart, Pongia, Walters, Lomax (Osborne), Croker, Furner, Clyde.

The only player out of the starting team that didn't either play Origin and for Australia, or for New Zealand was Nadruku, who played for Fiji. If the international rules were as they were today Noa would almost undoubtedly have played in those arenas as well. There are several state and national captains among the team as well.

    Broncs and Raiders

A real soft spot for this backline though.

An interesting question would be what is the worst team to have won a premiership in the last 35 years?

    Probably Newcastle 97?

  20. morgieb MC Burridge

    Tigers 05 wasn't flash IMO.

Remember with Newcastle the SL factor means they have a big asterisk IMO.
