    In fairness they're not actually losing many knockout games themselves, it's their mental block over penalties that's getting them eliminated a lot.

    But with the way tournaments are structured, then losing every game against teams of that standard wouldn't exactly be an unusual occurence. In my lifetime they've played Brazil once, Argentina twice, Germany 3 times and Italy once in knockout football, for a record of P7 W0 D4 L3. That's not exactly a shocking record, but it doesn't make for a brilliant tournament record once you factor in an inability to win penalty shootouts.
