That was my first thought tbh. England robbed. At the least they should have called Inglis grounding the ball so Australia drop out.
Massive Massive home town call. The referee basically told lies at the end on purpose just to get out of the situation. The ball was not rising. What a farce.
IIRC they threw the ball a couple of metres forward in the set that got them there, so not really. Should have been a try though IMHO.
There was forward passes ignored both ways all game though. That no try call was just flat out wrong.
I literally laughed at that Widdop forward pass. I stopped when I realised they weren't going to pull it up.
Well I am pleased that at least all the fans here are saying it was a try. People on CW are saying it was no try.
That's something that needs to be called the moment it happens. They had the luxury of being able to send the try upstairs.
I was at the game so I'm not sure what the explanation was/I don't know what the rules are. My impression was that it was probably a try, but it looked as though the ball was starting to rise when his fingers moved, so I can understand that. What's the rule on overturning decisions? Does it have to be conclusive? It didn't seem like it was, so yeah.
Ball was still touching the ground when his fingers touched it though, it doesn't matter if the ball was about to come off the ground...
years ago I'd have said it was a no try, but if you touch a ball for a millisecond and it's on the ground it is a try these days.
In international league it's just whatever the video ref decides. In the NRL there has to be conclusive evidence. I'm fine with the no try ruling but would have loved to have seen us lose.
