Being someone who watched the match, I can tell you the stats were quite indicative of how the two played. Johnson's attack was better than it usually is and that was reflected in the stats. His defence was excellent, as usual, it too being substantiated in the stats. Tariq made a big impact from the bench; he was putting on big shots, making excellent charges, and what have you. Saying Johnson wasn't anywhere near as good as Sims is just silly IMO (Paddy). Sims wasn't as good as Johnson afaic (and I thought Sims played well). Johnson was superb. I guarantee if Johnson had done the opposite - Namely, made 20 odd tackles as opposed to 50, but 150m+ as opposed to 80, he'd be getting a lot more credit. Attack is the yard stick for players. Always has been, always will be. I mean, that's why you hear absurd claims like Wilson's, that defensive workhorses are overrated - It's precisely the opposite. They couldn't possibly be more underrated. You're lucky to see one in each rep side - They are always vastly outnumbered by attack-based players, be it the forwards and of course, the backs.
Then maybe I just dont think Dallas should be getting all the praise, he was only a part of why the Cowboys won, was for a change a good team effort.
To be fair to Stormer regarding his call of the Cows being a dud team, the win against Melbourne by no means has me convinced they are the real deal, for one they tend to lose to struggling teams like Parramatta. They beat a Storm side riddled with injuries. That doesnt at all indicate they are back to their best yet, need to at least win back to back games.
Yeah, to me they seem to be the same team as last year. We all know you have your games where you play superb though. Consistency is the key and last week highlighted that you may not be all too consistent.
Ill see if they have truly changed for the better if they can show this attitude against Parramatta and the Titans. They took the Knights lightly and got belted early on.
The claim that the Cowboys are the same team due to inconsistency is rubbish IMO. Which team hasn't been inconsistent so far this year? Apart from the Dogs, Titans and Warriors. Why are the Cowboys the same old team but the Dragons and Broncos and others aren't? My point is, ephemeral form isn't indicative of anything.
Mind you, they could've easily been well ahead by 3 or 4 tries, even before Nielsen and Proctor and Manu got injured. They dominated from the opening whistle, regardless of injury, and that is very encouraging.
Been the strangest fucking start to the season in a long time. Only team I've really changed my opinion is the Sharks & Warriors though.
No it usually isnt indeed but when they slow started against the Knights it sure as hell looked like the 2010 Cowboys out there, absolutely no attitude shown, thats where that argument comes from, its not the fact they lost that game, its how woeful they looked defensively, looked the same old shit. Thats true, Graham did bomb about 3 tries to be fair lol
Exactly which is why I wonder which Cowboys will turn up against the Eels. Dont get me wrong a wins a win and Ill enjoy any win as I do but I wont get ahead of myself.
