If you pick up a very good seamer your side could be very strong. The all-round talents of Prior and Watson give your team a lot of strength.
Yeah. My next selection's gotta be a fastie. However, I was always planning on taking a fast bowler and a keeper with my round 2 and 3 picks and I think that with everyone seemingly going for the fasties early on, I should be able to get one of the same sort of quality with my next pick.
The Caloundra Lighthouses have the pleasure of announcing the signing of Ryan Harris. Perhaps a risky selection but he will provide a quality opening bowling option and a handy contributor with the bat if need be.
Player watch: This week: Rogers: Injured. Watson: Hit a casual 95 for Australia against the Poms. Dussey: Golden duck to an absolutely brilliant catch by Christian... Prior: Hit a ton last Sunday. I can't remember seeing him anywhere else this week. Harris: Took 9 wickets for the match. Lee: Got on the piss after getting selected in Australia's 30 man world cup squad. Mendis: Cooking up a storm at home. Thought that I spotted him in the cab rank the other day, also. Davies: Enjoying his off-season laughing at his English comrads.
Stats added. It reitirates the age of my blokes a bit. I might try and go with a bit of a youth policy for a few rounds after this.
This is pretty sad, but I think the possibility of continuity with CPL cricket is an incentive to pick some young guys...they're only going to get better, and they'll make great retentions next season.
You dont wanna pick too many because who knows how many players we will be able to retain next season. Im hoping its left completley up to the manager.
If there is no expansion I reckon you should be able to retain a much larger number. Maybe not all your players, but 11 or so. If there are new teams though it'll have to be 5ish again though.
New teams doesn't even necessarily mean more teams ftr. If any team folds and is then replaced it'll be a small number again.
Yeah it was pretty much impossible to keep much more than 5 this season because of the mass expansion. But yeah hopefully if there is no expansion or even minimal expansion then a number like 11 would be awesome.
