Fuck me the NRL finals are stupid, Broncos finish 3rd and smash 6th at home, their reward for that is a sudden death game against 5th at home. Meanwhile Warriors finished 6th and got belted by 3rd away from home, their reward is playing 4th away one game closer to the finals. Stupidest shit.
Broncos theoretically get to verse the easier team than the Warriors, and get a home ground advantage. How's that unfair?
The difference between winning in week 1 from 3rd and losing week 1 a from 6th is a home ground (well not completely home as it's not at regional grounds) advantage, fucking stupid imo.
Warriors were rewarded with an easier game in week 2 after getting drubbed in week 1, Broncos meanwhile have a harder opponent.
Warriors versed the team that came 3rd in week 1 and were smashed, their reward is getting one game closer to the finals and against a side that finished lower than the team they versed in week 1.
Ah, so your arguement isn't that the Warriors are versing an easier team in week 2 alone, but that they versed team 3, lost, then versed 4. Whereas Brisbane verse team 6, won and then have to verse team 5? Yeah, doesn't make sense in that sense.
Yeah overall I feel it hasn't 'punished' 6th place enough for losing in week 1 and also hasn't given 3rd a big enough reward for winning in week 1.

Emm is completely right. The Broncos, as a reward for finishing 3rd on PD only, are rewarded by thumping the team who came 6th with a "harder" game on paper, against the team that came 5th. McIntyre system is so dumb. Aside from homeground advantage (which isn't even that big a deal), you get no advantage from winning in week 1 if you're between 3-6 assuming the top 2 win.
I don't think there's a perfect finals system anywhere though. People will always have problems with each one.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm really getting sick of all the Darren Lockyer's retirement articles, clips, hype etc. I can't even imagine how sick of it fans from other teams are.
