Lions Batsman Ed Ames has been released from he final season of his contract to enable him to link up with Ravens earlier. The decision was made on a Compasionate basis and there is no ill feeling between Ames and the club
Not really, this had nothing to do with us needing him for the season, this had to do with Eds wanting to come early. He was a signed deal for next season no matter where on the ladder we are.
Good job of keeping a straight face for the public. Obviously the Ravens are panicking and you guys think getting Eds early will save you. Quite sad really.
I would have organised a trade but with us folding next season it doesn;t really make sense to recruit a player for half a season towards a dead end. Just making sure that this is recognised as a one off decision and wont be the start of a early exit trned
Indeed and it was Eds himself who came to me about it. I was happy to let him play out the season and come to us next season. Obviously even happier to get him early.
That was so out of the blue, but fair enough. Ravens are turning into a good club with their recent signings.
