Thought it was a bit off the way they attacked Cam Smith. AFAIC......the man was doing his job.

Note to McKinnons - Hating on Cam isn't going to make Alex walk again.

    What did they say?

I don't really like Smith but at the time it would've been difficult for him to know the exact severity of the injury plus he was right when he said that McKinnon ducking caused the injury the way it did. Obviously with hindsight it looks bad but why bring it up so late on, it's not going to change anything...

This is such a cash grab by McKinnon. Comes off looking like a knobend.

Apparently McKinnon is a real fuckwit.
  6. Alec AD Funkotron

It's a publicity thing, he's releasing a book or something soon.

Former Newcastle Knight Alex McKinnon has unleashed on Melbourne Storm skipper Cameron Smith in an interview on 60 Minutes.
In an interview with Liz Hayes, McKinnon opened up about the events of the night in 2014 when a lifting tackle from the Storm's Jordan McLean left him paralysed.
As part of the show, the pair watch the incident again, something McKinnon hasn't done since it happened.
He places blame not on McLean, the man whose tackle left him lying on the ground, but onCameron's behaviour afterwards.
"You see someone with two, four, six, eight, nine people around them and you want to debate about a f---ng penalty?" the Aberdeen native says angrily, as he watches Smith continue to debate whether or not the tackle was worthy of a penalty while he is lying helpless on the ground for several minutes, before eventually being stretchered off the field.
"Is he still debating? Is he f---ng serious? Wouldn't you just shut up? It's f---ing ridiculous."
McKinnon says that since the incident, the young prop McLean reached out to him.
"He sent me a message maybe two months after the accident. I'm not angry. At the start I probably was. I know he'd be sorry."
He reveals that Cameron, the Storm and Kangaroos captain has not been in contact, when asked by Hayes if he was visited by the hooker in hospital.
"Nup. I don't know whether he's tried, but I'm sure if Jordan McLean could make contact he could."
The Melbourne Storm defended their star player earlier on Sunday, saying Melbourne's players, led by Smith, attempted to visit McKinnon in hospital several times but were refused.
Alex's father Scott has also not forgiven Smith, and when asked, says he never will.
"No I dont think so. It's unforgivable as far as I'm concerned."

    lol what a fuckwit

Fuck me. This is such a fuckin joke.

Any contact sport in Australia where the player has a neck/spine injury gets stretchered off and has the same treatment on the field. I hate the Storm and I hate Queensland but definitely respect Cameron Smith as a player and a person, if you're going to do have a crack at him at least have the decency to let him/Storm/his management you weren't happy with his response in the aftermath. Particularly when it is the standard response of an opposing side's skipper.

A ploy to derail the Qld side.

McLean was getting revenge anyway, Alex doesn't mind having a carry on when he's caused the injury.

Still think Smith is grade A scum. If he had any ounce of decency he would of at least made more of an effort to reach out and at least wish him well.

He was part of starting the fundraising round for McKinnon, he has said that he and the club both tried to contact McKinnon in the days after the event...

Was fucking shit journalism the way they made him look, he is the captain of a footy team, of course he is going to go into bat for his teammates, there was absolutely no way he knew the bloke getting stretchered off the ground was never going to walk again... He is releasing a book and thats all that the interview was for really - that and to make Cam Smith look like a cunt. Bennett even said last night on the show that he's not a cunt and he's actually a good person.
  15. Mr Fourex MR Fourex

Maybe McKinnon should think about giving the Storm back the 20K they raised for him.......since Cam is such a cunt.
  16. BMT BMT Con

Still stand by him being a cunt. I get you're trying to defend your teammate in the heat of the moment but when someone is lying on the ground screaming they cant feel anything after minutes of attention, I think the last thing on anyone's mind would be the game itself.

Just shows his arrogance, if he had any ounce of being he would have mentioned it once then moved on. As to his actions after, all that shit was done through the club, I'm sure if he wanted to he would have reached out or at least pushed back on the club once he got the ok from them to contact him.

Cant wait for the self entitled shit again to retire and disappear.
  17. AVA T Delonge

Wouldn't surprise me if Smith felt slighted that Alex didn't want to see them in the hospital and just said fuck it.
  18. MightyPies DA Alessi

So the ref is also a cunt for continuing to say his point of view on the matter, when he should've shut his mouth and not responded to Smith because a bloke was being stretchered off the ground?
  19. Lukic L Popovic

Yeah this, especially considering what's come out now. Would not surprise me in the slightest.

  20. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Dislike McKinnon now. If I were Smith, I'd stop all support towards the cunt. I'd sit out the round that's there for fundraising for him, and hope it stops people coming to the game.
