Heard on the radio of some local league where there was either a free kick/mark on the 50m on the siren. The guy went down with a bad cramp and someone else slotted it in for goal.

Meanwhile the guy with cramps leapt up and celebrated, obviously fooling the umpire. The umpire saw this and struck the goal and made the original guy kick for goal and he didn't even make the distance.

Collingwood have really copped a rough draw with these Sunday night/twilight home games. Crowds are very average.

After years of a favourable draw they can suck a fat dick.

That's because the Doggies are shit. Prime time should be for the high drawing teams. Collingwood are losing revenue because of these timeslots and the AFL are taking even more away with this equalisation shit.

So what you propose is that the big teams get the big slots and get even bigger and richer while the small teams lose even more money?

Ie the aim of fixturing should be to maximise collective revenue instead of spread around the opportunity to earn

So it'd be better if collingwood made 4 mil and bulldogs 400k through fixturing than both making 2 mil

No I'm saying that if the AFL wants equalisation, give the big clubs the prime fixture slots.

Edit - Not sure if you hinted at that in your post.

How isn't it equal? A portion of that money goes to the poorer clubs. This helps the rich clubs too.

Equalisation isn't a 100% split firstly, and it's not fair to the fans. Clubs make money from memberships etc too, and having a heap Sunday twilight games, 2 in Darwin/Tassie and 6 interstate games isn't going to allow these small clubs to make money.

Allow the smaller clubs to make money as the bigger clubs don't have to give up as much of their revenue.

    Bingo.

equalisation is a joke though. what the AFL thought was 'fair' and 'equal' (which I too think was) was considerably (and I'm talking considerably) more than what they ended up taking from Collingwood. While Eddie continues to put collingwood and the lexus centre having up to date treadmills ahead of the bulldogs being able to afford a development coach there won't be any true equalisation. Eddie held the AFL to ransom and they folded, equalisation as it is doesn't equalise shit.

Which is why I don't have an objection to the pies getting the graveyard slots. If they allowed the AFL to do what they thought was fair re: equalisation I totally would support them getting prime time far more often as the weaker teams would still end up with more.

Ideally I'd love a borderline communist system where fixtures maximise income which is shared around instead of fixtures that minimise it and don't share the cash around. Everyone gets more under the first system, unfortunately the only way collingwood would go for it is if they got 100% of the extra income they generated.

It's a bit like the ICC reforms with India tbh. India are like 'yeah we bring in so much more money than you do New Zealand so unless you agree to give us 70% of the collective world revenue we'll kick all of you out of cricket' - that's kinda how collingwood and the likes operate; they don't just want more money, they want others to have less to preserve their competitive advantage.

Well I'd prefer to see 60k on a Saturday night and 25k on Sunday than 35k on a Saturday and 32k on Sunday.
