    Lol, I'll be ****ing supporting GC and NQ this season because they are the new teams and I hope they succeed tbh.

    I never really got behind Sydney in the first place tbh. Waiting for the Western Sydney team.

    Sydney won't get a 2nd team until they got a consistant big following and crowd figures around 20,000 to each home game.

    Exactly, you can be absolute balls all year, limp into 6th spot and get a game in the finals?

    What a farce.

    In English football, Championship and lower, the top 2 teams get promoted, then 3rd to 6th are put in play offs.

    Thats 6 teams out of 24!.

    There's no logic behind making it a 6 team final system with only what? 10 teams in the league?

    1 v 2 play off over two legs to go straight into the final.

    3 play 6 in the first week with 4 against 5. Only one leg though and the two winners face off over one leg again the round after. The winner of that game plays the loser of 1 v 2 for a place in the final.

    Both 3 and 6 and 4 and 5 play off over two legs to qualify for the single-leg final.

    An Australian version of the FA Cup would be epic. With all the teams in Australia being involved :p

    They'd never make an FA Cup-style knockout competition with the state league teams, because then there'd be the possibility of a Bonnyrigg v Sydney United match-up, or something similar... which is one of the major reasons why the NSL failed and they made the A-League.

    I'd love a knockout competition as well, but it'd never happen in Australia IMO.

    Because it's not really like that in Australia. We're used to having finals in NRL, AFL, etc etc... so it'd just be the norm to have a finals series for A-League as well.

    The only real downside is that the team most worthy of the premiership doesn't always win it (e.g. a random 4th place teams wins the Grand Final).

    The upsides are that the season lasts longer and there's more revenue for the league. Plus, it's a minor substitute for no knock-out cup, albeit not a great one but I'll live.
