A mate just linked me to this thread http://www.sharksforever.com/forums/showthread.php?140093-That-was-NOT-a-7-tackle-try-guys! And I always thought Souffs had the thickest supporter base in the NRL.
Hey North Queensland Cowboys, you lost your NRL final. Get over it. <!-- google_ad_section_end(name=story_headline) --> by:<cite class="author author-anthony-sharwood ">Anthony Sharwood</cite> From:<cite>news.com.au</cite> September 16, 20133:48PM 2 comments 2 comments on this story <iframe style="border: currentColor; width: 130px; height: 21px; overflow: hidden;" src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.news.com.au%2Fbreaking-news%2Fhey-north-queensland-cowboys-you-lost-your-nrl-final-get-over-it%2Fstory-e6frfkp9-1226720288822&send=false&layout=button_count&width=130&show_faces=false&font&colorscheme=light&action=recommend&height=21&appId=113758722003364" frameBorder="0" allowTransparency="true" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe style="width: 107px; height: 20px;" class="twitter-share-button twitter-count-horizontal" title="Twitter Tweet Button" src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets/tweet_button.1379006964.html#_=1379316513122&count=horizontal&id=twitter-widget-0&lang=en&original_referer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.news.com.au%2Fbreaking-news%2Fhey-north-queensland-cowboys-you-lost-your-nrl-final-get-over-it%2Fstory-e6frfkp9-1226720288822&size=m&text=CAN%20everybody%20cool%20down%20a%20little%3F%20Would%20everyone%20just%20take%20a%20nice%20deep%20breath%3F%20Let's%20try%20to%20regai...&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.news.com.au%2Fbreaking-news%2Fhey-north-queensland-cowboys-you-lost-your-nrl-final-get-over-it%2Fstory-e6frfkp9-1226720288822&via=newscomauHQ" frameBorder="0" allowTransparency="true" scrolling="no" data-twttr-rendered="true"></iframe> <iframe style="margin: 0px; left: 0px; top: 0px; width: 90px; height: 20px; visibility: visible; position: static;" id="I0_1379316513500" title="+1" tabIndex="0" vspace="0" marginHeight="0" src="https://apis.google.com/u/0/_/+1/fastbutton?bsv=o&usegapi=1&size=medium&hl=en-US&origin=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.news.com.au&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.news.com.au%2Fbreaking-news%2Fhey-north-queensland-cowboys-you-lost-your-nrl-final-get-over-it%2Fstory-e6frfkp9-1226720288822%2F&gsrc=3p&ic=1&jsh=m%3B%2F_%2Fscs%2Fapps-static%2F_%2Fjs%2Fk%3Doz.gapi.en.kUo-aHM7lU0.O%2Fm%3D__features__%2Fam%3DAQ%2Frt%3Dj%2Fd%3D1%2Frs%3DAItRSTP1_dAOlIR2gqx5HMrgIB_Gx4xmjg#_methods=onPlusOne%2C_ready%2C_close%2C_open%2C_resizeMe%2C_renderstart%2Concircled%2Cdrefresh%2Cerefresh%2Conload&id=I0_1379316513500&parent=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.news.com.au&pfname=&rpctoken=112666" frameBorder="0" width="100%" name="I0_1379316513500" marginWidth="0" scrolling="no" hspace="0" data-gapiattached="true"></iframe> inShare0 Increase Text Size Decrease Text Size Print Email Share Add to Digg Add to del.icio.us Add to Facebook Add to Kwoff Add to Myspace Add to Newsvine What are these? <!-- // .story-header-tools --> <!-- .story-header --> Video Image <!-- Don't display the video if video has expired --> <!-- // .video .js-tab-content --> <!-- // .image-frame -->Johnathan Thurston reacts during the Cowboys' loss to the Sharks. Would everyone just take a nice deep breath? Let's try to regain a little perspective here, shall we. <!-- google_ad_section_end(name=story_introduction) --> <!-- // .story-intro --><!-- google_ad_section_start(name=story_body, weight=high) -->Nobody's saying the 7-tackle-try affair was anything but a farce, but if you're banging the "North Queensland was robbed" drum today, here are seven things you should consider. WHY NORTH QUEENSLAND FANS SHOULD STOP WHINGEING 1. The 7-tackle try happened in the eighth minute And none of the North Queensland players noticed at the time. That's not to excuse it, or to suggest that stuff-ups which happen early in a match are somehow less important than blunders which happen later. But North Queensland had 72 minutes to recover and get back on that horse. How ironic that a team called the "Cowboys" couldn't do that. 2. Referees/umpires will always make mistakes One thing we're taught as kids is that if a blind bloke with a beanie rolled down over his eyes makes the world's stupidest ruling, you accept it. You just accept it. You might hate it and you might know in your heart it's wrong, but if you bleat on and on about how unfair it is, you do two things. Firstly, you teach kids disrespect for all officials. And secondly, you start to lose your dignity very quickly. 3. You can't reschedule the game That'd be unfair to both Cronulla and the Cowboys, and would hand the Manly Sea Eagles a saloon passage to the Preliminary Final. Outraged Cowboys fans would be much better served venting their fury at refs boss Daniel Anderson and daring him to find a way to stop this ever happening again. Ever. Or better still, having the ability to rub out the try as soon as everyone has realised the error. 4. You can't blame David Smith for this The NRL boss was David Smith in his former life as a banker, then had a blokey makeover and is now "Dave Smith". He's still hopeless at his job, though. Every rugby league fan in Australia cringes when he says "our game" and everyone can see he is not the man to take the game into the future. Not with the shocking crowds and TV figures this year. Having said all that, this wasn't his fault. The buck stops with him, sure, but he didn't personally prevent four officials from counting to six. 5. The Cowboys finished eighth. Eighth. And last year they finished fifth. That's not to deny them their natural justice, but the fact remains, no NRL team from outside the NRL top four has won the premiership this millennium. So all this whingeing is fair enough to a point, but let's not pretend anyone was robbed of a premiership, eh? 6. Nobody likes Sydney. Take a ticket and join the queue Cowboys star Johnathan Thurston says he hates Sydney. If he thinks he's breaking new ground with this sentiment, forget it. Everyone already openly hates Sydney. The whole of Queensland hates Sydney, Melbourne hates Sydney and people who live in Sydney hate Sydney most of all because of the mortgages/rent here. Just one little thought, though. The city of Sydney didn't deny Thurston and his team this victory. Oh, and Thurston won a premiership playing for a Sydney club back in 2004. Maybe he should toss his medal in the harbour next time he comes here. 7. There is no conspiracy against North Queensland Sensible rugby league fans are desperate for their code to thrive far and wide. While many fans, and some bigwigs at the NRL, would no doubt love the romanticism of a Roosters/Rabbitohs grand final featuring two foundation clubs, even the dopey officials at NRL HQ know they have to spread the game's wings. Picking on non-Sydney clubs is hardly a sensible way to achieve this. Having said that, the NRL should now make some sort of special gesture towards North Queensland. An Origin game in Townsville, perhaps? It'd cost them a heap of revenue, but flush with TV deal funds, this is something they could afford. Perhaps that's what outraged Cowboys fans should be arguing for today. Season 2013 is over for the North Queensland NRL team. But maybe there's a way the North Queensland region can still win. Just watched the incident for the first time. Thurston is an absolute fuckwit of the highest order and anybody who says that the decision robbed the Cowboys is a fucking mong because, not only was it the right call since Lui knocked on but because the Cowboys had 72 minutes afterwards to score. I'd say there's been a number of tries that have come off the back of shitty ref's decisions this season, such as where a player hasn't played at it and its been called 6 again or a ball's been played at/knocked on yet not called, which this technically would have been no different to if it was in fact the wrong call. The Refs made a marginal, and in retrospect, correct decision and people are blowing up about it. Dickheads.
72 minutes to make up for it isn't really a good excuse. How about giving one team a 6 point head start in each game, and if they lose it's their fault, because they had 80 minutes to make up for it.
You really are a biased cunt.i enjoy your posts when you take your fucking maroon coloured glasses off but that's rarer than a four leaf clover these days fmd.
