He jumped and got ankle tapped. Insane send off.
Yeah no way that's a send off.
And he'll get off with a fine... fmd
Shouldn't even be a fine, doesn't deserve any carry over points for that. It's just such an unfortunate event.
May dropped all together now.
Strange, unless they want him getting 80mins of gametime at 7 to prepare for the games Cleary will miss. He has been OK from the bench, he just sucked as a 7.
I'd say the take away from those games is that they deem he's not up to being a first grade half, so either:
A: he's essentially playing purely as a back rower, in which case theres better options, capewell covers centre, Burton the halves.
B: They want him back in Reggies to find a bit of touch in the halves/ball playing to ultimately come back in to that genuine utility roll.
I personally like that they've dropped him, with Eisenhuth on the bench at full strength they e already got one holding player, distinct lack of oomph in the engine room when he and May are on. Better to give that other bench spot to someone with a bit of X factor for 20 minutes, or Kenny who covers the only position they can't reshuffle to cover in the event of an injury.
Panthers only picked one genuine prop on the bench and dropped Leniu... I am a little sus that won't be the 17 they run out with.
I was thinking about this more, I wonder if the difference two head gears make has been considered. I'm thinking specifically about head clashes, couple of those old steeden head gears that Feeney wore coming together would have to give you a good 40mm of cushion.
The issue is, unless they completely blunt all impact, it won't stop the brain rattling around inside your skull.
Cleary has been playing Martin as a prop quite a bit.
That Reece Robson sin bin may be worse than the Hetherington send off last week.
Robson was tackling at hip height, exactly what the game has asked him to do. Seriously the ref calling that careless and keeping a straight face is laughable.
Worst there's been I think
How can Ashley Klein say there's no mitigating factors in that Taukeiaho sin bin.
How about the fact we're playing on a ice rink and Clearly's height drops within a split second. If it was a swinging arm I get it but what behaviour are you trying to change there? What are you asking the defender to do..
I was thinking about this as I watched it. The only semi reasonable argument I can come up with is that even if Cleary standing, Taukeiaho's shoulder would've been making contact with the upper part of Cleary's chest, which is fine, but there's obviously more risk in targeting that part of a player, as it leaves less margin for something like a slip.
So maybe, and this is being pretty generous, someone somewhere has made a determination that they're happy for that to be a sin binning, in the hop that in the future Taukeiaho goes lower with that tackle, say targteing Cleary's mid section, so that the chance of hitting the players head is less (unless you're Reece Robson).
The argument against that is 'well if you make players essentially have to go low, the attacker is just going to be able to offload that much easier', which is definitely true, but I don't think the powers that be would neccesarily see that as a negative, as they seem to be continually trying to evolve the game towards a faster and faster pace and more and more points.
That was one of the most disgraceful sin binnings I've ever seen and there's been plenty of those.
Wow 40-0 at half time.
I've never seen a scoreline that big at any level of the game.
I do feel for Tigers fans. No fan deserves to endure that sort of rubbish dished up.
Holy shit, this could get near a hundred.
And I've got George Jennings in my fantasy team and he's scored fuck all!!
I am genuinely loving it.
