Was thinking maybe having an even split between two tracks cost them but then Chet's vote was split like 10 ways last year and he still took the top spot.

Rubens didn't have that problem at all.

    Never get back too soon

Courtney Barnett being so low was surprising to me. Expected her to crack the top 10 at least, even if I don't especially rate her.

I struggle to understand why Tame Impala is so popular. Just really can't get into them personally.

Yeah I can't say I've rated anything of the most recent album Tame Impala released. I hate the vocals can't get past the annoying high pitched whining to enjoy the rest of the composition

The 101-200 list to be better than the actual list again IMO.

  11. Tartmaster AJ James

Yeah I don't get the love at all.
Few decent songs but nowhere near as good as the hype IMO.

I actually got into them through this album, really enjoyed it. The Moment is my favourite.

It's crazy to think Kevin Parker wrote, recorded, performed, mixed and produced the entire album himself. Understandable why Currents was hyped so much, IMO.

Heard some really good songs from Hottest 100 that I didn't really know of or had only heard a few times beforehand. Always love going back over the list and listening again afterwards.
    Some new favourites:

Just listened to it. Pretty fucking good.

It was hyped so much because they've been exceptional, and grown/evolved rapidly since their debut self titled EP.

Tbf since their first slow riff on Half Full Glass of Wine it was almost a given they had something special.

But their growth and evolution from Innerspeaker --> Lonerism was just something of beauty. Then the jump to Currents which is arguably the best Aussie Rock album this decade is just stunning as well. It's fair enough if you don't really dig it, but you have to acknowledge the enormity of what they're doing in a pretty soulless rock and roll scene in Australia at the moment.

Had a few more picks in the 101-200 than the list proper. Was a good countdown.

Agreed. Been 38 degrees here since 9am. Mowed the lawn then headed to Hst Head at high tide (fucking unreal, crystal clear and clean tidal creek/beach) for beers and a good few hrs of the countdown.

Pretty awesome year all round in my opinion. Enjoyed quite a few in top 200. Tame Impala - The Moment probably my favourite song of the year.
