Yeah, I don't think they have even presented their bid yet to the NRL. The clubs have unanimously backed a team in Perth but I think there is a fair amount of work yet to be done to finalise it. Either way, it doesn't do a Central Coast team any favours as if two new teams were admitted, my money would be on another QLD team along with Perth.
Yeh would be happy with the above. So long as they don't have a ****ing blonde moment like the A-league and make it a 10 team final series.
Yeah Perth deserves a team. Bit sad that the main reason why they don't is because of Super League. We need to make the NRL a national game, not just one played on the east coast.
I don't think that making it a national game is the reason. I think that it comes down to two things. 1. There are a shit load of Qlders (and I assume NSWman) living in WA due to the mining boom over there. I know 4 blokes that live over there now that don't even know each other who have moved in the last 2 years. As such, there's an automatic following. 2. TV timezones.
Would be happy with a Perth team coming in, if they can back it financially and have a decent stadium etc. I haven't really kept up with this shit, but is there a bid for an SA based team? If so, they should come in over another Qld team, assuming their bid is up to scratch. Then kick the Warriors out, because the N in NRL doesn't stand for New Zealand, and bring in another Qld team then, perhaps. Problem Kiwis?
Have Adelaide ever shown an interest in either rugby code? Try make it a national game and all, but **** Port Adelaide struggle to turn a profit as the second biggest club in the state's most popular code and I can't imagine a league team would do any better.
Only one club runs at a profit as it is..... Don't really know the pros and cons so I won't weigh in on Perth specifically. I've got a few opinions on expansion though: - The player pool isn't strong enough for another team, let alone 2. We're struggling talent wise as it is IMO. - Central Coast does not deserve a team. All this talk about teams outside of Sydney....well Gosford is ****ing close enough. Over half the ****s there work in Sydney and it's only an hour away. That and the only thing Gosford has going for it is a good NRL home game stadium. - Before we expand we need a governing body taking decisions away from each state too IMO.
