    So you kept watching a boring, convoluted and plagiarised show for 15 hours? I'd love to know where it is plagiarised from, too. I assume you aren't stupid enough to call it plagiarised from the book series it's based on.

    Yes. Mainly because I just can't believe how bad this season has been.

    lol no, no I'm not.

    As with practically all medieval fantasy written in the last 50+ years - The Lord Of The Rings. Martin and the GOT screenwriters borrow heavily from Tolkien. That's forgiveable; everyone does even non-fantasy writers.

    The rest is what I'd call historical plagiarism. Wars of the Roses, Hundred Years War etc. - Random cunt king dies, juvenile cunt prince assumes throne ahead of surviving brothers. War, duplicity, etc ensues between Houses of York and Lancaster - Stark and Lannister. Throw in a few rip offs from Machiavelli's The Prince and some tawdry distractions of armies across the sea...This is called novelised history or homage by GOT fans. I call it lazy.

    Don't get me wrong. Much of what Martin writes is original and interesting. But what is original is not interesting, and what is interesting is not original.

    Two points? Nah, it's riddled with imitations and lifted plot lines. And I didn't say he ripped everything off. You sound like a GOT fanboi. But that'll do because I really don't wanna ruin the thread. I shouldn't have said anything. I just think it's the most overrated TV in recent history.

    It's definitely overrated but that's thanks to extremely good marketing getting the dumb hordes of women and trend followers into it. If it hadn't been marketed so well only boys would watch it and it would be a 'nerd' show. And you can kinda tell the story is going nowhere and the ending is going to be a bit shit. Starting to feel like Lost with the amount of random crap he's included to keep the 'mystery' feeling going. There's no way it's all going to connect well and finish strongly. He doesn't even know what to write anymore.

    DWTA, the most recent books are fairly rubbish. The show improved almost all of the storylines except maybe Dorne.

    Rubbish... the show has cocked up so much it's not funny.

    I think it's unlikely the Dornish story pans out the same way in the books.

    I'm not convinced GRRM has told them enough for them to parallel the books.

    No way. They've cut out sooooo much total bullshit and eye gougingly rubbish chapters. Beyond Dorne all the stories have been able to get the real importance to the narrative found and moved on with. GRRM wrote himself into a bloody knot and he may never unravel himself out of it.

    The reason the Dorne story is so drastically different is that that they don't particularly matter.

    It's why I think this season has been brilliant. It, for the most part, has cut out the dragged out and unnecessary moments and just got on with shit.
