Brisbane Broncos thread on how to lose a GI and a Lock and a semi final

I know he is a gun, however what he has going against him is he is more or less the same type of forward as McGuire and Parker. While I would rather he get a shot than not, for the sake of the balance of our middle third we should be trying to get Blair, Garbutt and Gavet going.

If we went into a game with a middle third rotation of:

    8. McGuire
    10. Parker
    13. Blair
    16. Ofahengaue
    17. Molo

Defensively you'd think we'd be quite tight however we'd get deadset trampled by some packs. Who of that 5 would take our 1st/2nd hitups?

Though I'm not 100% comfortable with it because of how green they are, I think we should be at least starting games with either Garbutt or Gavet because we'll need a pig to take the early hitups against set defensive lines..

I still hate seeing Parker named in anything other than 13.

    Me too.

For rd 1, if I was given Bennett's squad I'd probs roll with:

    8. McGuire
    9. Macca
    10. Garbutt
    11. Glenn
    12. Thaiday
    13. Parker

    14. Gillett
    15. Blair
    16. Oates
    17. Gavet

Primarily to make sure we have a big body in the middle in the opening exchanges. Another reason to stagger Gavet and Garbutt is things could get messy for us with both of them in our line at the back end of each half.

I disagree, I think Brisbane will need either one of Gavet and Garbutt on the field throughout most of the game. While the other middle third players bring things to the table like high workrates, 2nd phase and ballplaying; they aren't as suited to taking the 1 and 2 hitups in a set as the likes of Garbutt and Gavet.

  9. Magic AJ Parker

Still think Brisbane are a power runner or two short, as good as I reckon the Gavet signing is.

I'd be pretty tempted to push Parker into the second row if Blair is going to be starting which you'd have to think he will be purely so you can get another strong yardage man into the side.

    Yeh I said another.

I think this would be a terrible idea for many reasons.

Yeah, shifting Parker to the edge would be a step backwards. My solution for the power runner issue is to have Garbutt/Gavet in the starting side.

Gavet's not good enough to be a starter, yet anyway. He's a great bench option though.

Thaiday quite frankly just needs to be fucked off, couldn't crack it in the middle third and can't crack it on the edges unless a lot of circumstances fall his way. I wouldn't play Parker in the 2nd row for the whole game but I definitely think it'd make your pack a lot stronger in the early exchanges.

    I'd start with;

    8. Mcguire
    10. Green/Garbutt
    11. Glenn
    12. Parker
    13. Blair

    and then move to;

    8. Mcguire
    10. Gavet
    11. Glenn
    12. Gillett
    13. Parker

With Blair interchanging with Mcguire & Parker for small breaks for the rest of the game. The 4th prop on the bench will pretty much be a redundant position for you guys this year IMO. Could be the perfect role for Thaiday.

You want Parker on the edge? Fuck off.

We have Vidot to take our 1st hitups, he is our best prop.

no idea how to add tweets into here

Wayne Bennett said @86Blairy allows @Coreyjparker13 to move back to lock and @sam_thaiday to play on the edge again.

He makes less and less sense as he grows old.
